When you see beggars asking for money "Sorry I pay for everything on card" Then buy them a sandwich, or a hot drink if its a cold day. I never, EVER give money directly to beggars, you don't know if it will be used for food, cigs, alcohol, or drugs. I would much rather give them a hot drink and something to eat than give them a couple of quid which they then use for cigs, drugs, or alcohol.

I'm not paying for any charity as a matter of principle, and I live by my principles. I think it's the most evil thing to do, to get rich on the guilt of others.

Heck, I have asthma and a buch of allergies yet I'm not donating to them either. If something is important enough it would get funded by the government, I'm not going to get myself scammed. And there is no reason you should feel guilty if you don't donate, it's nothing personal and people should understand that.

The do this in America too, particularly in the movies where they will walk from seat to seat in the theatre like you owe them some sort of tithe or something. I noticed that since the theatre employees weren't pulling in enough the last couple years, they're using girl scouts this year.

In fact you can literally say to the "oh, I already donated yesterday". Hell, you could even say that if it's not true.

My dad does this all the time :P. I just ignore them.

When I donate to a charity, it's going to be one I've chosen, researched and vetted. Probably for a cause that doesn't get much.
