Gamon has been part of Orgrimmar for longer than any of you WOTLK joiners.

Yeah, the entire Uldum thing with Harrison Jones and Schnozz was taking it a bit far, however during the Siege of Orgrimmar I actually hoped they would do something with Gamon and am happy they did. He may have become a joke over time, but he has been an ever present character in Orgrimmar, everyone knows him, and he deserves some face time other than getting ganked every 2 minutes.
They are over dramatizing his character a little bit in the process though, but it is actually more acceptable than some characters they re-introduced during the years.
I have no idea what Blizzard's writers are doing.
No idea just what kind of story they are trying to tell. They mix the jokes with the drama. That is just fail.
Sure, many serious/intense stories have their lighthearted moments to give the audience some breathing room, but they are always "separate". When the stories is being serious, they are fully serious - and vice versa.
Blizzard's writers are fucking amateurs.
How dare they take the seriousness out of the greenskin saga.
What does LFR has to do with the subject?
Jokes aside I think its time for Godwin's Law to evolve in order to engulf LFR and WoW into something like this:
"As an online discussion regarding World of Warcraft grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving LFR approaches 1."
Or something similar.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
Most likely wont happen.. Honorable mentions for helping the heroes instead of beating them up, maybe. I mean, he is only taking his weapon against the fight because they tried to force him. He's not really a "joke" character, there's so many elese there is as well.
Remember late TBC, when people thought Lor'themar was just a joke character, or place holder till the new leader? Atleast I recall it from a lot of forums and servers. Look at him now.
I am not saying that Gamon goes that far, but, would say that he has something to fight for. Hence I want him to be attackable by raiders too, basicly showing that he doesn't want anything with anyone.

I don't care
What's the big joke about Gamon joining in the fight though?
As an alliance player (So maybe i missed something, going to bother you with my opinion anyway :P ) i know two things about Gamon: he gets into a lot of fights and he lives in Orgrimmar, so when the biggest fight Orgrimmar has ever seen comes a-knocking it makes sense to me that he joins in...
I MISS MINDCONROLLING GAMON! Being able to use "kick" on mounted players and they would fly off their mounts, was soooooo awesome.

Actually, indeed. It's because people kept killing him and that meme...
..and at larger points, I've seen things about Thrall being a joke too... The fact that he has respecced a bit. And the phrase, "By Thrall's balls"

The horrible bit about that quest.. When people kill him/MC him before you do the pick pocket.. Ugh, raged so many times back then... took 1 hour to complete the quest because people knew what could be done.

I raise you stormwind.... Or.. is that joke too heavy?.. Humm.. let me get back to that..

It's not just "Horde" or "Alliance" writers.. It's a mix of both.. Doesn't matter what you play as the writer.. In the end, your draft has be to approved by other people before anything.

Hmm.. I admit, tilted towards Horde a bit more... But, I have to say... Some of the Alliance quests are kindda awesome... And still love the Alliance landing cutscene more than the Horde. And loving the specialist team they have through Jade Forest and Kun lai (Horde has something just like it, but on that team, it's only Nazgrim that ruled).
Yes, it leaned most to Horde, but Alliance wasn't untouched and people can't get away with thinking there was no lore for them. Jaina had a lot of lore gathering in Mists of Pandaria and her actions breed more lore for the Sin'dorei. Leaving the Sunreavers without home, and hunting down other members of the Horde in Dalaran. As well as the "moving" of Dalaran ((?) People have noticed during some phased quests, that Dalaran is above water - so moving), kindda find that a big lore point for Alliance too. As well as their battle in the Wilds.
Or, the fact that the Horde has been told more to leave than the Alliance. Hehe. Well, Horde did screw too much around in Mists of Pandaria.

But, you see, there is one little problem..Gamon and Hogger aren't joke characters. They were made jokes by the players, because of the way they were portrayed early on in the game. It's time for Gamon to become what he was always meant to be, a real lore character.
This! All off this. Those quests were amazing btw, and that Orc still sparks a tear because of his bravery.
Gamon got tired of being beaten, so he took the challenge and now he is needed. As in everyone, is needed. It would be something else if indeed someone as Hogger would suddenly lend a charge against the Warchief, but that did not happen.
I don't find Gamon much of a joke character. He was made that way in the fan's mindset, but was otherwise a nobody. Blizzard simply responded to the fact that Gamon is a popular character, and added him in the raid. It's not like his inclusion in SoO is lore-altering or affects anything in the future of the Horde. It's somewhat silly, but was done tastefully. There was a huge fan reaction when they discovered him fighting Kor'kron in Orgrimmar in 5.3, and a bigger reaction when they found out he had ultimately been captured. I find his inclusion fun.
Overall, I hate it when intentionally silly characters are important from the first moment we meet them to the last moment we see them. The perfect example is Harrison Jones in Uldum. Instead of, oh, learning about the Titans or what the Tol'vir have been up to, or even a possible connection to the closeness of Ahn'Qiraj, or even learning about the Watchers in Uldum like we did in Storm Peaks...we got an Indiana Jones reference questline. It was funny seeing it once, but after realizing that was half the zone, and that was the only history we'd see in that zone, the fun disappeared instantly. The Ramkahen questline (aka, the other half of the zone) was mostly just dealing with current events. I minded this, very much.
In comparison, Gamon's inclusion in SoO is just a nod to the fans and their feelings about him. It's less "Haha, look at this! This is silly!" and more of a light-hearted gesture from Blizz. Harrison Jones was meant to be a silly character and all of his quests are simply references. He has no seriousness about him from the moment we first met him in Zul'Aman, and then again in Grizzly Hills.
3 hints to surviving MMO-C forums:
1.) If you have an opinion, someone will say that it is wrong
2.) If you have a source, there will be people who refuse to believe it
3.) If you use logic, it will be largely ignored
btw: Spires of Arak = Arakkoa.
Gamon should never be mentioned in the same context as Hogger. They are nothing alike. Gamon is not a joke character. He is an average Tauren who has evolved and leveled and matured with time just like every player in the game. Gamon will be a fine Warchief. Gamon has saved Orgrimmar from countless alliance raids and has often times proved even deadlier than Garrosh.

I love when Blizzard does this. They take something you take fro granted, and then turn it on it's head, either by making it funny, or in reverse, taking a joke, and showing a serious side to it.
I hope they keep right on doing things like this, cause to me it's what sets Blizzard games apart from the norm.

it's not that bad i guess... but i wish they would keep it to a complete minimum. so far, they have. i'm pretty sure that gamon is the first of this.
