Post Youtube celebrity accused of stealing a stand up comedian's work

Maurice Kain Carter, an African-American Youtuber was accused of stealing jokes and the philosophy of a passed away comedian Patrice O'Neal. I will give you a little bit of history so you are better informed.

Kain Carter started his Youtube channel hotdamnirock (http://youtube.com/#/user/hotdamnirock) four and a half years ago and he has been posting videos about relationships, discussions about viral happenings in the world and comedic videos about all sort of stuff. He made a documentary about his life, shirts and did a lot of meet-ups with his fans. His channel was doing great. He even won a King of the Web contest, a sort of contest where Youtubers compete against one another and the users vote on who they want as a victor.

About a week ago, Cain posted a video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=SkEudkVNXOI) about Patrice O'Neal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrice_O'Neal) being his inspiration and sharing his points of view. After the video was posted, an outburst happened on the internet. All of a sudden, people started blaming him of stealing Patrice's jokes and started hating him. Patrice's collegue Dante Nero (http://www.dantenero.com/) also joined the hate against Kain Carter.

The video compilling all the jokes Kain took: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ieikx25D3wg
Kain Carter's video defending himself: http://youtube.com/watch?v=UYOu8oTn-KY

    What are your thoughts?
Please, keep the discussion civil, this doesn't need to look like the Youtube comments.
P.S.: I am making this post on my phone, so I apologize if the links don't properly work.

Maurice Kain Carter is really just some guy on the internet. He fucked up, he's not perfect, it happens. The idea that a kid like this is going to make a career for himself on youtube that goes on for years and gets the amount of attention his has without /ever/ screwing the pooch is silly.

What's really important is what he does after screwing up, and I think he's going about it the right way. He's not trying to deny what he did, he's not trying to pretend that he can't understand why anyone would be upset with him and why doesn't everyone still love him or any of that crap. He's bluntly saying "This is what happened, this is why it happened, and this is how I'm trying to make it right." I can respect that. So long as he doesn't turn around and make the same mistake again, at least.

Comedians constantly have to toss their work back and forth. They joke constantly to find new stuff. This looks like a few jokes with some similarities.

I dunno, I don't see it as a big deal.

It really depends. Look at the hate Dane Cook got for ripping a Louie CK joke. Louie ended up having Dane on his show to poke fun of it or just show the uncomfortable confrontation between the two.

Here is what I am talking about:

Folly and fakery have always been with us... but it has never before been as dangerous as it is now, never in history have we been able to afford it less. - Isaac Asimov

You can repeat the post as your own, in his honor.

Also, I think a lot of the hate Dane Cook is similar to what happened to Andrew 'Dice' Clay in the 80s. Stand up comics have a history of being pissed at unknown talent that becomes an arena comic very fast.
