I have a Sapphire 7950 on the 7970 pcb, voltage unlocked and overclocks fairly well. Not sure what I have it set on atm. But of course I bought this card over a year ago so idk how much has changed on it since then. But, I haven't had any issues with it and its still pushing games like a charm. I am patiently waiting for the 9000 series or w/e they decide to name it.

edit** now that I think about it though, I aint 100% sure if its not trixx allowing me to unlock the voltage. Its been forever since I f'd with the card

So mate what you say? Like I said, there are some reviews on Newegg claiming 1200/1600 on that 7970. Even if I choose to use it on stock numbers sounds a good deal.
I just need someone to tell me: do it!

I'll give you my opinion. If you can get a unlocked 7950, go for it. It's VERY close to a 7970 overclocked.

This review site have the 7950 running at 1200 MHz which should be easy for most cards. Notice the insane performance when overclocked, it beats 680/7970 in most test.

Now, the 7950 Vapor-X can overclock 1100/1550 MHz on stock voltage, atleast every review site notes this.

If I were in your shoes, I'd get the voltage unlocked Twin Frozr.

Good reviews mate? look at Newegg, there are many bad reviews
    and the Sapphire 7970 for 50bucks more ( 30 after MR ) I think, I mean, it should have a better perfomance/price.

I think I will get the 7970, because in the future if I want to sell the PC to my friends, it makes a better propaganda
I wanted to get that HIS, but fuck sake it`s sold out

    It's not reviews.
More like RMA cases, every card have this.

But the 7970 is still a great buy, you will handle every game perfectly.

    Great!
As you can see in this video(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmGWyAyO9mc), the performance is very slight going from 7950 to 7970.
