What are they like at the 470-500+ gear level? Im thinking of picking up my long forgotten dk soon (still at 85) but before id do Id like to know how competitive they are at 90 dps wise? I also like to play frost spec with a 2 hander is this the way to go or?

Have a few other toons sitting on 85(rogue+hunter) and I want to level one who can compete at 90 though before I make my choice so im asking around.

Ill never be an `endgame` player dont have the time in rl to raid normal or heroic level so id be looking to get to the level of having bis from lfr etc.

You'll probably be fine around that ilvl, play good enough and you'll be top or near top of the meters most of the time. Any higher than around 505 ilvl and DK's scale really poorly. We're absolute bottom of all BiS DPS meters right now so yeah.

Frost is definitely the way to go. 2 handed burst is great for leveling. With Unholy, you have to wait for the diseases to do their work.

For the ilvl, I have around 510 and as I finished getting all the ToT items + a couple of valor items and I can generally be very competitive in LFR. I switched to Unholy when I got my feather, and only place behind people in heroic and on par with normal. But it is LFR and not exactly the most competitive environment

If you're aiming for that 500ilvl then yes, just stick with 2H frost. It's a friendly spec to play and pumps out some good numbers at that ilvl with a comparable ilvl weapon.

If the patch notes and initial sims are anything to go by then 2H frost will actually be decent next LFR tier as well... So go wild!

This is what I did with LFR gear UH DK WITHOUT Feather. I was playing traditional UH, since I don't got enough str procs to make the diseases powerful enough.

You can still apply diseases at high str procs using outbreak while playing "traditional" unholy for a significant gain. Your relatively low damage is more likely to do with not gaming/reapplying your diseases in the first puddle.
