I understand these sort of projects take time. As an aspiring game developer, I often side with Blizzard on many of their arguments, because I can see both sides of the fence, and often enough they're right.

What is alarming though is the fact that they've said they're at a stable 25% with the models which gives the indication they won't be ready for the next expansion. I've no doubt Blizzard could pull it out of the bag if they wanted, but we've still yet to hear they're really committed to getting them done, as we're always told; "They're on the wishlist".

I'm glad they're taking their time with this project, but 25% was alarming to me. I just hope they pull it off.

Totally, Transmog was perhaps one of the greatest contribution to game aesthetic since they first expansion. Aesthetics matter.
I couldnt agree more. Also, I'm sure they want to try and bring people back or possibly get new people in. I dont think that (mainly off of my own opinion) people will want to play a game that looks like its aged like wow does or even subscribe to it. Visual appeal means alot in games and wow is no different

I dunno, how fast are people expecting the next expansion? I think if they have 6+ months the models could be completed no problem.

Yeah, I'm glad they're taking years working on some more mediocre new models like pandaren or god forbid: worgen.... The sad part is, I'm only half serious.

25% has no context because we don't know when they started them. If they started them when they first brought it up at Blizzcon when they were showing off the pandas, that's one thing. But if they started a few months ago they can easily be ready for the next expansion.

It looks like I'm the only one that doesn't really want new model updates. Is there any chance for Blizz to give us the option to maintain the character as it is, and not force us to change once they release the new stuff?

I've been playing my Night Elf Warrior for almost 7 years and I still love him as much as I did back then, and I do not want him changed, at all.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. They did that with EQ. You could actually turn off and on individual new race models. However, I think it's blizzards style to want a consistency in how players view characters. I see them upgrading everything for everyone.

So yes, they're certainly considering it.

While I am sure there is not a way I can like the old models more than the updated ones, I still think the extra option being there is a good thing.

So long as it doesn't hinder things like more armor geosets/3D gear.

Lets be honest, even the Pandas are low quality for a 2013 game. There has to be a line drawn between taking your time and taking forever.

ROFL. Thanks op, so saving the last picture.

I'd prefer them not to change the character models at all. But if they do it, please spare us the creepy eyes o_O

whenever they say they did one thing, over another thing cause of quality or something... It's instantly bullshit in my eyes

They meant that because they only had to make one race for the expansion, they could spend more time developing that race.

These might be good news indeed. I just hope I can maintain the looks on my character! I've been reading some posts and I've noticed Blizzard is probably really taking in consideration people like me, that got too ''affectionate'' with their character and just don't want them changed. Hopefully I won't be forced to change mine (at least radically I guess : / )

it wasn't a big deal, i don't even remember it being discussed. people have bitched about all the shoulder armor floating for a lot longer

they have a shitty PR guy right now, that's why nobody has told blizz to just shut the hell up for a while

well they can do like EQ did and give you an option. it's not something that is complicated to do.

Working in software myself I can say that generally projects start fairly slow as you work on the design, make your first mistakes and truly get an understanding of the task and requirements.

In the case of new character models, I'd expect the first 2-4 races to be the slowest by a mile, but as they get to the other races, the updates will push a lot faster as they've built up experience and can make better judgement calls on direction.

I still won't expect these by 6.0 but I'd say we'd see something from Blizzard by then. If it's not out by 7.0 or one of the 6.X patches I'd be surprised.

This is far beyond "taking there time" at the rate they are going is going to take TEN YEARS for them to be done.
    Angels and Airwaves
    Aldmeri Dominion - Imperial - Templar - Laethys - High Elf - Assassin - Frostmourne - Orc - Rogue - Sea of Sorrows - Norn - Thief
    Borderlands 2 - Mechromancer - Battlefield 4 - Engineer - Diablo 3 - Wizard

I'm glad it's taking a long time for character models too. Gives new MMOs (games that don't have Greg Street in charge) a VERY easy chance to surpass them. Keep up the retarded milking schedule Blizzard, see how far that gets you with a new MMO already released and 3 more on the way before the year is over. Keep being retarded. Please.
