I've never paid for the services of a prostitute. I've never had to, but the way I see it, there's nothing wrong with paying for sex. Sex between 2 consenting adults, regardless of gender pairing, is nothing to be ashamed of, be it with a prostitute, or with your partner. Church based social morality is the main reason why it's seen as something shameful, as I'm sure that pre-church, there was no issue with prostitution outside of jealousy. I'd say that properly regulated and protected prostitutuion, we'd see a massive reduction in sex crime. Such reform wouldn't be a magic wand and eradicate all sex crime, but I've no doubt it make quite a dent, allowing resources to be directed elsewhere.

Paying directly for sex comes across as bad but a lot of men do indeed pay for spend money in order to get sex. you take a girl out, buy her dinner, drinks, movie, dancing, holiday pay for her taxi, you name it, your actively paying to end up getting laid, would be cheaper to just pay someone directly and save you some time.

On Topic, I have never paid anyone directly for sex but I do know a cam girl and a escort, perfectly normal people who you would never guess do that. Unless you overdo it, using a prostitute when you get that urge can end up a lot cheaper than dating, living with someone etc. Plus, when you're done, they go away.
I don't know of any cases where alimony has to be paid to a hooker (unless it's an ex-wife hooker).
