Having a bag full of ammo that I never thought about unless I ran low was not engaging in the slightest. It really wasn't fun as a newbie hunter. Thank goodness for Raptor Strike!!
i kinda feel sad about this too!
class quests were a very class personalization of the game!
I loved the shaman and warrior quests to get the totems and stances... the lock quests were pretty cool too!
They were very tied to the lore and to the connection of the classes to the essence of the class! Had an awesome feeling in it!
So what if you had to loose 1 hour or 2 doing them to play properly?
now what we have is the most boring/linear leveling we ever had... no wonder everyone just spams dungeons!

I am actually a fan of the Tarecgosa's Legendary staff quest. Sure no one needs 391 ilvl Staves now but whoever wants to, can do this quest for fun. More Quests or Dungeons should be preserved liek that imo although I also believe there should be clearer indicators about the Quests no longer being relevant.
if a game does not provide immersion, I'm sure you will not like the game and won't be playing it for long! and gameplay or the way you interact with the game is one of the most crucial ways to provide immersion...
honestly I'd put immersion as the factor for enjoying a game!

If I could undo one thing, it'd be the removal of Naxx 40. Never did get to farm it as much as I wanted, and I feel the WoW community as a whole lost far more than it gained (transmog gear primarily) when it was removed. Bizzard could simply have asked of us what they've asked for years; suspension of disbelief, concerning the new and old locations of Naxx co-existing simultaneously.

i miss the commitment that a dungeon required.
a dungeon used to be just that a DUNGEON, not a detour of your farming or daily quests, but something that the completion of required a commitment of time and focus.
just another of the reasons i dont play live servers anymore. i'm quite happy on my tbc private island...
Blizzard do not destroy Jaina Proudmoore's character. Make her who she once was, not full of rage and vengeance.
If you are curious about me or about my writing aspirations, feel free to pst me.
Haterade is a destructive drug.
You know what you would have if you removed gameplay and left immersion? A movie. You know what you would have if you removed immersion and left the gameplay? A game. It's not that difficult to understand.
Edit: Tetris, minesweeper, pinball, millions of board games, millions of games period can tell you that your statement regarding not playing a game without immersion is wrong. I guess you forgot gaming history though.
Remember that pong game? Pong... It was so popular because it made you feel like you were really playing ping pong. Right?

I'm not in favour of content being removed ever, but I don't really consider things like pet happiness to be "content." Nor do I think streamlining a dungeon is analogous to removing it entirely, or any of the other convenience changes you listed.
The only example listed I'd actually consider content would be the class quests. While I miss those, and did think they were fun (well, most of them... fuck you, seal form and air totem), but I also understand why they were removed. They were too obligatory and it was too punishing if you didn't want to trudge all over the world completing them.
