Essence of the cursed _____

I was looking at the new tier vendors and noticed you could buy the new tier tokens with an item called essence of the cursed blah aka http://www.wowdb.com/items/105860-es...rsed-protector for example. It is possible for every tier of difficulty, but the dungeon journal still says the bosses drop the tokens directly so I was wondering if anyone knew were these essences came from.
