    New Alliance Leader

This is a thread made completely out of interest for what you have to say.
At the moment there is no indication or sign that there might be a new Alliance leader, Varian seems VERY much in charge. But purely for my entertainment, in the event of Varian perhaps being killed, overthrown, or simply stepping down as leader, who would you most like to see becoming the new leader of the Alliance?

This is completely unrealistic I guess, and I have no justification as to why I would love to see this happen, but the character I would love to see take charge of the Alliance is..... Tirion Fordring.

Might have something to do with me joining WoW in WOTLK and thus it being my favorite expansion, but I absolutely loved everything about Tirion in LK. He was, let's be honest, the "hero" of that particular expansion, and he lead the justice team against Arthas. I just think he would make a fantastic leader, he's a human so it's not exactly risky, and he is pretty damn powerful.

The alliance should not have a leader.

No, Tirion Fordring has made it pretty clear in past expansions (before he moved out of his hut in EP, even) that he sees neither true good or evil in the Alliance or Horde, and that he is not even remotely interested in any racial warfare between the two. I like him a lot, but the only alliance-esque thing I'd want him doing is putting Ashbringer through Sylvanas's skull if she tries to plague the land (even more) that he's purified.

If anything I'd like to see Genn Greymane, and the Gilnean worgen take charge. Seeing as how the Gilneans have strong ties to the elves and stronger ties to the humans, I think they'd be the capable race of ensuring that Kalimdor and the EK's forces are united enough to take charge. Or just appoint Moira in charge. Let the little lady strut her stuff and make the Alliance a dark and powerful force willing to do whatever it takes to "honorably" advance their position.

Agreed. Should be a council. The individual leaders in the Alliance (including the Druid ones that have played a neutral role) are too strong of a leaders to be under the command of anyone.

Tirion, Uther or even young Arthas-like character would be an awesome leader for the alliance.

I have no clue why they made Varian the way he is, my best guess is they wanted him as a foil to Thrall as another orc/human hybrid but his angry side basically doesn't exist any more and the whole wolf thing is just out of place. Also his character model really sucks, especially the stupid anime hair.

I forsee Varian being killed sometime in the future. Maybe not next expansion, but maybe in two expansions. Then getting replaced by Anduin, which should be mature and an able leader by then.

And I think that's the best choice for Alliance.

I think Turalyon should come back and be in charge!

Varian will die by the hands of the Burning Legion, as they besiege Azeroth. Blizzard will need ways to show the frailties of the Horde and Alliance once compared to the Legion, and there's no better way of doing it than tearing Stormwind to pieces and beheading its king.

Turalyon will return to the world and rally his people around him. The Lion's Heir.

Anduin Wrynn will, during the great war on Kil'Jaeden, find inner strength and wisdom. As a pupil of Turalyon, he will learn how to be just, confident, and righteous. But also how to punish his enemies with force. Once World of Warcraft is over, he will be the one to lead the Alliance through years of peace and prosperity.
"Good morning!" said Bilbo, and he meant it. The sun was shining, and the grass was very green. But Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out farther than the brim of his shady hat.

Thank you for expressing my opinion before me. I agree. Alliance should be ruled by a council with leaders from each nation. Just like before this High King bullshit.

You know, many keep going with this council's idea about the Horde, which doesn't fit at all, failing to understand that in fact is the Alliance the kind of faction in which such a way of leading would be perfect. Just look at Horde and Alliance before WotLK: the Horde with Thrall as figurehead, the Alliance with none but a Regent Lord in Stormwind, Magni in Ironforge, Gelbin as a "guest" of the previous one (due to the loss of Gnomeregan) and the newly added night elves minding a good bunch of their own businesses; no one was the big boss of the Alliance, but still this worked pretty well with them, and would work again now that Garrosh is not a global threat anymore.

Using the same logic people used in regards to Lor'themar becoming the Horde's warchief, since Moira got some development last patch she should definitely become High Queen of the Alliance.

    Off-topic:

Your die-hard despise for Blood Elves fits so well the race you play (which is Dwarf, I guess).

no ? ok Anduin would make the most logical choice, But lets throw logic out of the window shall we ?

Lets devolve the Wrynn monarchy on the death of Varian and have Anduin ascend to the throne and take away it's military and political power, instead having it as a figure head who has no real power other than that of a diplomat at the behest of the council, which Anduin could quite easily accomplish.

The political and military might of the Alliance would then be handled by council of the existing leaders, each having there own vote.
Decisions made by the council would work on a round table majority system, and there would be no over all leader.

    Tyrande Whisperwind (Darnassus)
    Jaina Proudmoore (Dalaran)
    Genn Greymane (Gilneas)
    Prophet Velen (Exodar)
    Gelbin Mekkatorque (Gnomeregan)
    Aysa Cloudsinger (Tushui Pandaren)
    Council of three hammers (Dwarves)*

*Council of three hammers is more complex as they are already a council, but only a unified decision by all three would count as a single vote in the over all alliance council.

as for a spokes person to announce decisions, then there is only on real choice.... BUD!

Yep, its an Alliance, it should have a bunch of leaders representing the Allies, its not an Empire. I even think this High King concept is bullshit. but thats just my opinion.

But if there should have been one leader of the Alliance, I say Jaina for the Queen. Because that would make stuff interesting. (patch 6.4 Siege of Stormwind, or SoS for short)

Yep, and the council would only be needed to decide major things like how to proceed after SoO. Other than that the races should have autonomy to do what they want. If Stormwind wants to launch an attack on something then they can do that, doesn't mean they'll get any back up, but they should be free to do it.

Muradin should be 2nd in command should Varian be killed/captured/resigns.
    Unsubscribed 3/10/2014 - 8/14/2014.
    "Times change."

Beware the claims of yearly expansions. It's not more hype more often, it's paying more for less. Fewer tiers, no more new levels, no more new races/classes, but an ever-increasing price tag....

I think the whole point of this expansion was precisely reinforcing King Varian Wrynn's leadership over the Alliance as a whole (See people like Jaina, or the Dwarven Council; which were sort of rogue) as opposed to the Horde very much going to hell. The new Horde, and the new Warchief, won't be any close to as united as the Alliance is now.
