it was really nothing short of horrible 3d artist work. even with my limited experiance in 3D i could tell that they have not used a great deal of time on that cinematic

I just assumed he looked so awful because his skin has been transformed to leather from too much tanning. That's what it looked like to me. He is a husk of a man on the outside, but it's what's on the inside that counts guys.
He should got rid of that anime haircut. Seriously it makes him look like (even bigger) moron.
I thought they looked nice... Not like Garrosh but nice.
Anyway, yeah Varian's model is older than Thrall's or Garrosh'. But I wouldn't say Varian or Jaina look bad though, they still look pretty good compared to some of the old models. Just look at Baine or Genn, they still use the old and outdated character models.

Thrall looks like Aggra kicked him out of the house with a frying pan to the face so....
If you truly believe that, Blizzard, show me you mean it. Because WoD didn't show me.As long as players are happy and enjoy the game, the team doesn't mind extreme peaks and valleys. They just want to ensure you have a great experience and feel like you got your money's worth.
I thought he looked awesome.
In fact, I was annoyed, because I was actually liking Varian during that cinematic. :p
I thought Varian looked fine, especially considering the age of his model. Vol'jin looked like the Joker to me, but I can't say he looked crap.
There's only one in the Alliance cinematic that made me go "wtf!" and that was Anduin. He looks like a muppet.
Onyxia is coming back, again again again, for the last time, next time, as a zombie ghost dragon again. One last time. She is Anduin's true master.
