    Equation question

If I wanted to figure out what the base average dispatch damage for regular Norushen's Shortblade was with a base AP of 45679, would the following equation be correct? I'm guessing the 20% from using daggers is applied after everything else is considered.

{[(Base Weapon Dmg) + (AP Modifier to Weapon DMG)] * (Percentage and number from dispatch itself} * 20% from Assassin’s Resolve

    {[(5636.2*1.8) + (45679/14)]*6.8+784}*.2 = Dispatch

    It would be 7.74 * (10145.5 + 1.7 * 45679 / 14) + 6068

    Or more generally:

    weapondamagemodifier * (basedamage + ap*coefficient/14) + base damage.

For assassin's resolve, multiply that result by 1.2. Coefficient = normalization coefficient, 1.7 for daggers, 2.4 otherwise.

Thank you. I get most of that, but I'm not sure where the 7.74 comes from?

They already factored in Assassin's Resolve (6.45*1.2). It should actually be 1.25 instead of 1.2 (which means the 7.74 should be 8.0625), but that's not a big deal unless you need specific theory crafted answers. This means the 6068 is off too, but again, not a big deal, especially if everything is multiplied by the same modifier.

So, any ability with a dmg modifier should be have any outside modifiers such as assas resolve factored in prior to calculating the base damage of the ability?

Sorry for asking all these questions. I'm just curious as to how the game processes damage.

Pathal is right. I forgot that assassin's resolve was buffed to 25%.

You can do it that way if you like. It's not my preferred method, but there's a lot of ways to do this. You could rewrite Shadowboy's equation as: 1.25 * 6.45 * (10145.5 + 1.7 * 45679 / 14 + 784) if that makes it easier to follow. Since all the modifiers are written out as you would normally know them, it helps prevent mistakes.

The beauty of algebra is that you can rearrange and put it into chunks due to things like distributive property (among others).
