    Fucking socialists.

Freely avaliable healthcare works just fine for most of the rest of the world. And most countries who has it spends less per capita on healthcare than the US.

I can't help but chuckle to myself reading these posts where people think that the govt running health wont end badly. Just look at the batting avg so far with anything else govt controlled

I find it hilarious that Americans, who I have always considered to be some of the most friendly and neighbourly groups of people in the western world, are so venomously against a NHS-like healthcare system.

This idea that you are "paying for someone else" is a load of bullshit, because when you buy and pay for your insurance currently, you are already paying your rates based on the coverage afforded to other people.
You are already "paying for someone else", only if it was nationalised and not private, you would pay a LOT less, you wouldn't be gouged for medicine (we in the UK cannot understand, for a second, how you can tolerate paying the ridiculous medicine fee's that you pay. It is disgusting how much the pharmaceutical companies charge you for what costs them next to nothing to produce) and as a country, you would be better off. More money to spend on luxuries, save, food, school or whatever else you wanted.

The other thing I have trouble with is just how much contempt you seem to have for those who have less than you. Those people who can't afford the ridiculous rates of insurance companies you treat like plague victims "Oh fuck them, let them sicken and die, fucking poor people!". From a country that always seemed to be ready in a moments notice to help each other when there was trouble, or hard times, and now it seems it is everyone out for themselves.

The amount of crap some of you believe that is spouted by your news networks is staggering. Truly beyond belief.

You know that doesn't actually happen in REALITY right?

Nowhere on Earth does that happen.

What happens when you make something "for-profit" is that you have money as the objective, amassing as much as possible, and that means taking the lowest possible bid for the lowest possible cost and selling it for the maximum possible profit. Nowhere does quality of service come into the equation, other than to determine what is the lowest acceptable quality for a product or service so that you don't spend a penny more than is necessary to meet the minimum requirements, thus maximising profits.

The notion that if you give corporations free reign to set prices and offer services that they will give the highest possible quality for the most reasonable price is R E T A R D E D. They will do nothing of the sort, they will find the lowest baseline of quality, the highest price markup that people will pay, or will be forced to pay, and then stick at that. Then every year or 2 or 3, they will hike up the prices based on some ridiculous bullshit that they will pay to be spun on the news so people accept it and don't question why.

Get out of your insane bubble. The real world is waiting outside.

I think that doctors should be paid less. There used to be a time when people became doctors to help people, not to have a mansion and a lambo. You step foot in a hospital and you're paying over $1000. Healthcare does not need to be a business, that's what needs to be addressed. The solution is not to adopt a socialist system, it's to run out the greedy bastard insurance companies.

Thats why many country with a public system introduce counter system for these, same for the eldery that goes for no reason alot. Here we use a taxation ticket system, if you go for minor problems that did not require actual medical attention or prescription of any kind, you have to pay that ticket. Its only like $50 but if you are willing to pay $50 for a runny nose, i guess its ok you are funding the system.

Theres still some wait in the public system for the non emergency, if you really dont want to wait there is private clinics but you are gona pay $150 just for them to sign a paper saying you have functioning eyes, it all depends how you value your time at that point. Wait an hour to get the paper signed in public for free or wait 15 minute in the private and get it signed for $150.

Are you saying your government is less competent than all the other countries running other style of healthcare system and having its citizen pay less for the same services? I mean if Cuba can pull it off, doesent sound so out there?

How about Quebec a province just over Main and Vermont, they nationalized all their electricity in the 70s. They pay the lowest electricity bill in North america now and have been selling their electricity all the way down to NY. The difference with a government usually is that they arent there for profit, only to get elected again. The private company is there for the profit and put the cost as high as you are willing to pay, the government run establishment is there to be reelected it will put the cost as low as it can so you vote for them again. Both run into troubles, but i think from the 2, the guy that makes his mistake trying to please you is the better choice of the two. Its been proven in many other industries and countries.

Its never a perfect system, but one is a notch better for the common man.
