    New computer build

Sup diggity dogs. Building a new computer and wanted some help.

    http://pcpartpicker.com/user/rawrbears/saved/2uuT

What I picked so far. I haven't used that site but I hope you can see it. Anyway I already have the 760, the case, and I just ordered the power supply. Mostly wondering about compatibility and if there are better alternatives to what I picked. I haven't picked a monitor or mouse yet but I'll figure that shit out later.

It's pretty much for gaming and I'd imagine I can run all the great watered down console ports on ultra since I did with my 550ti. I plan a moderate oc to 4.2-4.5 so I'm not sure about the heatsink. I was looking at a closed loop water cooler but not sure about that with my case. Anyway any halp is appreciated.

It's a solid build, the psu is a little overkill but with that special it doesn't matter.

I would however highly recommend dropping one of those HDD and get a SSD. I'd also get Windows 8, don't buy into the negative crap you hear, it's unfounded.

The 212 is great for the price, you can get 4.2 easily and don't worry about a closed loop water cooler, they only take a tiny bit of extra effort to install and will be fine in that case. I recommend getting one if you want to delve into overclocking and have the cash.

BF was gonna get one for my os and some games. Those other two are for games and anime and whatever else because I can fill a drive in the blink of an eye. Thanks though. Took like 8 hours to pick everything I wanted.

I would get watercooling for my CPU, and as stated get Windows 8 its very very nice especially if you also going to run an SSD.

Yeah recently did some research into it myself (and from posters in my own thread). Windows 8 seems to be the way to go particularly with DX11 support and an increase in performance. In fact with 8.1 coming out (October 17th) we will even be able to (apparently) load straight to desktop.

You can already do that, granted you have to install an additional piece of software that brings back to start button + boot to desktop. You could probably change the cpu + mobo to a 4670k + z87 motherboard, there is no point spending that much money on older hardware.

The GPU is a placeholder, dependent on the benchmarks for the R7 and R9 series Radeon cards coming out this month. I've made savings elsewhere in order to upgrade the cooler to an AIO water, and a 250GB SSD to fit most of your games on. Alternative PSU is the Seasonic 620 Bronze, which is a semi-modular PSU).

You can load to desktop now. The only legit complaint the average user can levy against W8 is the terrible terrible metro gui but it takes literally 30secs to get . 3rd party program to bypass metro. I use classic shell and there's a few others to choose from.

I already have the case and the graphics card. I bought the psu tonight and it seemed like a steal at only 90 bucks after the rebate. I was looking into water cooling but I was a little worried about since I'm not sure if it works well with my case. I picked the ram I did because I had the ripjaws and they were a nightmare with the frio I had which led me to the heatsink because it wasn't another turbine that could bend the mobo.

So, that would mean that you need these items, then, correct?

Yes, thank you. I'd like to do a push pull for that heat sink since it's a 140 and so is the back of my stryker, but it feels like it would stick out way too far. Does it even matter if I do that or not?

The h80i is 120mm, so it would not fit in your 140mm stryker.
It also does not matter if it sticks out, it might not look as good as a single fan but the performance is better.
    8700K (5GHz) - Z370 M5 - Mugen 5 - 16GB Tridentz 3200MHz - GTX 1070Ti Strix - NZXT S340E - Dell 24' 1440p (165Hz)

Most cases allow either a 120/140 in the back though. Case is out for delivery so I'll double check anyway. Kinda concerned it hitting the graphics card if it sticks out too much, but I bought a full tower for a reason.
