Just do arena, you can pvp without pvp gear. You can't get high rated but that doesn't matter for now. Just cap out conquest every week and you'll get there in the end. There are many people doing the same thing, not everyone is draped in pvp epix.

The problem with this is you won't pass 1500, which means you're stuck at 1800 points a week (or 2200, except nobody will take you into RBGs, so 1800) which means it'll take about 15 weeks to get gear. You can win 10 games in about an hour max. So that means if you wanted to just PvP you would literally play 1 hour a week for nearly 4 months before you can actually start playing the game for real.

So no. This is not at all anywhere near a viable strategy.

Not anymore. Apparently the 375JP->250HP tradeoff was WAY too good so they nerfed it into the ground. At the moment, it's more effective to just queue for random bgs than to do heroics, which was a much, much better way to gear up for pvp because you avoided the clueless and really bad players that fill up random bgs these days. Imho they should have evened out the JP to HP ratio to 250-250, and offer a sane man's option to gear up which can be planned and allotted time for. Instead, they severed an important and imo, the best way to gear up for pvp. Who wants to drag their team down because they're in 463ilvl pve gear? or worse, 496 3 stat crappy epics from timeless isle?

Tol Barad, Wintergrasp and the Grizzly dailies, Thunder Isle dailies, and the three elites in the Wilds are a very fast way to get honor. You can gear up a character completely in a few days, without really needing to do Battlegrounds. Of course, I did do them since they are much more fun to me than arena, but still. Most of my honor came from those other things.
