Oh jesus, no offence to you man, but if you didn't know that... Blizzard really needs to fix how questing and classes work so new players can LEARN to use all their abilities. I blame the super balls easy low level content for why you didn't figure this out earlier. :P

My worst experience was probably being a hunter in Vanilla, you have no idea how many times I forgot to get my pet off of follow or aggressive stance. I pulled so many mobs and wiped the group in those days hahaha

It's funny watching my girlfriend play. She just started less than two weeks ago, and it's her first MMO.

We got up to 36 on her mage and she decided she wanted to try a hunter. She did some quests and such and asked me for help with an ability she had gotten... So I went over, and watched as she finished off a mob, just spamming Serpent Sting haha.

I explained to her what a DoT was and showed her how her other abilities work together, etc. A few minutes later she was like "they die so fast now!!!"

It's awesome seeing someone play for the first time. Nostalgia

I am so sorry, haha, I'm tempting of selling my account if the next expansion doesn't appeal to me. If I do come back some day in the future I'd love to just start again.

Though I wouldn't have my Vanilla cheives

Starting to play WoW wasn't a mistake for me - but giving it priority over other things certainly was.
Ingame: after more than 6 years of WoW I suddenly blinked into a boss just recently - I never thought this would ever happen to me

I did the same, not with Legendarys, but with some really good characters. From BC to Firelands I had two accounts. The first had some good characters on it and I sold them right before Wrath (for a decent chunk of money, since they were worth a lot more back then). The second I kept and right before Firelands came out my guild broke up (well, sputtered out really due to people's RL issues), and when they broke threat, I just got bored tanking, did some healing/dps, and just stopped playing overall, so sold that account. THAT account is the one I miss... I had so much raiding experience invested on that character, so many achievements, etc. that I can never get dates back for, etc. and 9 geared max level characters in just about every spec lol.

    Oh well, live and learn

I've got my account now, I'm enjoying it with just one main character (and an alt with my girlfriend now).

Actually had to make an account for this, kind of a long story but here it goes. My biggest WoW mistake was getting too close with 2 people i met ingame [Note] this isn't a horror story.... Well kinda

It all started around the end of vanilla WoW I had just got WoW and began playing not even 3 days in I met some other people in general of Dun Morogh that were forming a social newbie guild you know the whole "we have an alt guild bank, quest and do dungeons together" type of thing. Once I joined I met a hand full of people most of them would vanish but there were 2 of them that would follow me through life for about 5-6 year, Mind you I was about 13-14 when this started. After talking to one another for a few minutes in guild they introduced me to ventrillo and from than on out for like i said about 5-6 years we met on vent everyday (maybe one or 2 days we didn't talk but almost literally everyday) Now after a few hours of talking to them i found out that they all lived near me in MA (by they i mean the 2 people I had previously stated would be around for many years) but since were all 13-15 we never were able to meet up since obviously we had no income, license, or cars. Now as time goes on we all progressed in WoW through PvE and PvP but also shared more and more about one another it came to the point were we new each other inside and out and could almost predict each other kind of freaky huh? The 3 of us were almost like brothers. We would play WoW and be on vent together for almost 11 hours everyday learning WoW step by step until we finally became server first raiders and gladiators for almost 6 years. Yeah we were ULTRA nerds. But we also helped each other through rough times in real life. even thought we weren't there physically we were there through WoW and Vent. Now I could go on and on but im trying to keep this short while getting the story across. Now 6 years of this go by we all eventually quit WoW for different reason and I'm 19 and my other 2 friends are 20-21 so we all finally decide to meet up in real life and hang out. At first it was really cool and we had a lot of fun but as time goes we realized the only thing that really kept us "bounded" was that we played WoW together and were SUPER competitive with one another which is why we exceed so much in WoW also we had a common boundry; The off button on are computers. As time went on since like I said we were so competitive in WoW it also transitioned into real life and this made us start to hate one another and only times we really talked were filled with sarcastic remarks and sniggering violence. Now we don't talk to each other, Its been over 1 year. Sad to say but all throughout my child hood they were the only 2 people I could call my "best friends that i grew up with" and even in WoW they were really my only friends since we had a super close friendship.

To sum it up my biggest mistake in WoW was not branching out to other people, or even branching out to other people in real life. I wasn't a loser in high school i was actually really popular but once again I wasn't as close to the kids in school i was with my WoW friends... not by a long shot. I actually have been having really deep though of coming back to WoW lately, Hence why i lurk on MMO-Champs but i know it wont be nearly the same as when i had these 2 friends of mine.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Woah dude, that story is awesome and sad at the same time.
I have 2 friends I've played with for many years, but we have been friends since 1st grade so.

Letting myself play the same game for over a year worth of seat time. So so stupid of me. On the plus side, thinking of all that wasted time has been good motivation to actually do things now.

In vanilla, i bought my 100g mount. Mind you it took a long time to grind 100g back then. I instantly clicked it in my inventory(no mount tab back then) and realized that ive sold it back to the vendor for 10g. There where no buyback back then either, so i just lost 90g in a second. It took me days to grind that money back!

Tab targeting in UBRS Rend fight which pulled all the observers from one side and wiped the group. I knew I was guilty but said nothing.

It took an entire night (I'm guessing around 10 hours) and I must have died at least two hundred times.

Then I met a Paladin who dueled me for a while and let me know about the train line from Stormwind to Ironforge.
my god, i did the exact same thing
