I might give it a shot but I don't see it pulling my attention away from League of Legends. I really like the guys over at Riot.
Currently playing Borderlands 1 remaster. Amped for Borderlands 3.

i think it will fail. Players will just stick to Hon, lol and dota. Its like when its a new mmo game coming out. Ppl will try it. But go back to wow which they have invested 20% of their life in.
i think it will be a success. It will replace LoL.
Will this game be stand-alone or a mod in SC2?
the people at blizzard love their games, they have guilds and play with their friends in the games, they arent chained up prisoners being forced to make content 24/7.
again, pokemons the 2nd best selling video game series in the world, it makes them so much money that all the people at gamefreak are set for life, why did they make harmoknight? why are they making that horse racing solitaire game? because some of the developers thought it would be fun to do something besides pokemon.
and people dont lose their "artist status" they are writing multiple novels worth of lore, the designers are designing worlds and creatures and armor and weapons, the encounter team is designing up strategys and game mechanics.
just because you dont like blizzard doesnt mean what they are making isnt art.

i am not even blizzard fan but it will beat league of legends and dota 2
Well i find it funny that Blizzard fans flame every single MMO coming out that is cloning WoW but when Blizzard is doing the exact same it will surely succeed right? And yes LoL is a dota clone, but that did also come out when Dota was still a custom map, and the whole dota-clone market was not that big yet. Now we got a new god damn dota-clone coming out what seems to be every month.
9 times out of 10 its the exact opposite with tons of people posting "x will keel wow" and i dont see that many people in here trying to claim heroes is going to kill lol just saying it will be succesful.
most wow players dont even care about other mmos or what they are doing or whos making them, its only the people who hate wow who are constantly looking for a wow killer who tend to start those arguments

Please elaborate on that in how it takes you to reach an end-game where it is vaguely any different than what and how are you playing the game then you did at the beginning.
Just because you get to a point by filling up talent points does not deem it the end-game. Heck, almost everything you get through your level-ups are passives to the point that they vaguely effect your 15-60 minute play session that is the match. I've beating the hell out of teams with 15+ levels while at least having a monkey on our team who just slays creeps while giving the opposing side all their kills all the while using a rental hero.
Unless it is the competitive portion of LoL that the minority (Below a million among 40 is minority) of the community take place in, the game almost has no necessary time-investment similar to WoW does.
Though, don't get me wrong as I rarely have any games installed on my both machines and LoL is one of them out of the 5 (With Blizzard games being the 4/3 with no SC being on my mac while the HS being installed with my PC having Marvel Heroes instead of HS). However, the very reason why I like LoL is its similarity with the original DotA as well as zero to none time investment.

I think it'll address the one big barrier to casual gamers playing MOBAs, the learning curve. And it'll be casual. And if they get some good artists, all the vanity skins and items and hats and all sorts of shit will be everywhere.
The question is whether a casual MOBA with no real competitive scene can be financially viable. For Blizzard, with this IP, probably. But if they err too much to the competitive, or try and find that balance where it's somehow both competitive and easy to get into, it might swerve into disaster. Hearthstone is toeing that balance right now, but like someone else said, CCGs are that plentiful, and HS is the most casual CCG out there, even if it can still be competitive.
Can Blizzard make a COMPETITIVE MOBA in line with LoL and DOTA2? Probably not, but I don't think that's what they're aiming for.
League players probably wont swap, but blizzard has a huge fanbase, so I don't think that the game will be unsuccessful.
Or, actually, EU west players might swap ._.
It is like nintendo with its smash bros series, in fact, I can remember that Blizzard said that this Blizzard all-star was their own Super Smash Brothers
Then it will come down to leaving unintended behaviors in the game like how in Melee (Wavedashing), which could be compared to DOTA, and it's still played competitively. Brawl fixed most of those behaviors, but sees little competitive play.
Also as I mentioned in another topic on Heroes, there may be people coming over to get away from the stripperific female characters in League and DOTA, although DOTA is a bit better in terms of having less fanservice. Then again, with Alexstrasza and Sylvanas being Blizzard characters, and Sylvy probably being in the game...

Enstraynomic - League of Legends
TheEnst - Starcraft II
Well, if Blizzard is still following the philosophy they had last time they mentioned the game, Heroes of the Storm is going to have something very important that most DotA games do not have: teamwork and actually cooperative gameplay. A huge reason I do not like League of Legends and especially DotA2 is that you're more often competing with your own team over kills and gold than fighting the other team. A huge source of drama and the stereotype of DotA communities as so toxic is largely because how easily your own team can accidentally sabotage your chance at victory, even when doing things that hurt the other team, and how big of a deal those games tend to make out of your wins and losses.
Also, Heroes of the Storm will actually include some of the original Warcraft characters that DotA renamed for the mod. ;P
I'm not a DotA player, but the philosophies they had in mind last time they mentioned this game had me looking forward to Heroes of the Storm. If they change their mind, I hope they just change it to a whole different genre altogether, because I want what they were last talking about. Blizzard may not get a lot of converts, but I know there are other people like me who do not like DotA games right now because how toxic they are, who are an untapped market for anyone willing to grab them, just like how World of Warcraft grabbed a new generation of MMO players who did not like how hardcore the existing ones were.
Much like Hearthstone, its not really built to dominate the market like WoW or SC2 does (well, atleast I would think so). Its just a fun side thing. Its not gonna be as competitive or have as many players as Dota 2 or LoL, but it will be a fun thing for current Blizzard players to play for a bit. I for one will definitely play it a bit, but it is highly unlikely that it will replace LoL for me. It will just be fun to see a Blizzard spin on such a popular Genre.

My God, what a horrible creation. People seeing what they want? Thank God they tried to shy away from that. I know it pisses me off when I'm in an heroic raid, yet in the back of my head all I can think is 'some casual player is playing a heroic dungeon and not wiping.' -Vodkarn
