Why don't you just get this
It's the same build pretty much for $100 less. And you'll prob have it built quicker then a pure custom.

Yes, they are compatible but.
1)Save money on the motherboard, can save 50$ by getting a Z87-A/Z87 Extreme 4
2)Get a better cooler if you plan to OC above 4GHz
3)135$ for building it? >_>

As to your question, yes they are compatible but you do not need to go for such an overkill motherboard, I assure you on that!

Some of that is decent, but idk, I've been not too pleased with MSI's build quality as of late on their GPUs. Also, 7 Home Premium? That's pretty backwards-thinking of them, I'd personally prefer Professional. Is 8 needed? Not so sure. PSU is a little weak, if he ever wants to CF/add more parts, he'll be very limited. Also, a 120GB SSD? That is a little low on the space, this is 2013, not 2011, I think we could suggest him a minimum 240GB SSD. :P Not saying this is all your fault, though you did suggest the build.
