Sorry. I had a Maroon 5 moment. Warlocks are CRAZY op in damage right now for raids. It's really unusual when one is below top 5, actually. The reason Demo got nerfed was because of the INSANE amount of damage it was doing (See world first 25 SOO Heroic kill vids. Top 3 deeps were locks), but it still isn't that terrible. It's never going to be god-mode Destro / Affi damage, but realistically it's fine.

Demo kind of sucks lower ilevel until you get your 4 piece tier, or at least moderate gear. It really scales a lot with ilevel. Not as bad as affi, but still kinda gear heavy.

also the top ranked lock for PvE is Demo. Shinafae / worldofwargraphs ranking

Feels really weak to me and my peasant 550 ilvl, even on fights where it's supposed to be good. I know it becomes decent at really high ilvl, but by that time you're pretty much done with the raid, no?

i have seen very few demo locks in raids that are good. In pvp they are damn near extinct with a few exceptions (morpheus demo lock for example)

demo works at higher ilvls. I play it for fun for some farm fights, its not bad at all.
I mean, looking at max dps potential on a longer fight (where aff burst becomes less potent)


just for comparison sake, im in 564 ilvl, heres the difference between the 2 specs using a destro reforge

So like mentioned above, dont just jump on the shinafae band wagon. Use a spec that best compliments your play style, your raid comp, and the content you are progressing through. Id stick with aff and destro, that being said, play what you can do max dps with, not what sims higher or what some other lock plays.

I honestly don't know who (s)he is. I just go off of what my charts say. And if the OP wants to play Demo, shouldn't we encourage him to play what he enjoys the most? Of course you need to switch around and be flexible for you raid, but if he likes Demo... What's wrong with that. Regardless of the "Shinafae band wagon", whatever that means, (s)he's still the top ranked warlock right now as Demo, so obviously (s)he's doing something right.

I do agree that Afflic and Destro are AWESOME for raids, and that Demo is lacking, but if there's a fight that could slack a bit on DPS or call for different utility what's wrong with playing what he likes?

How is the PvE score of players computed ?
The players score is :
Score = NormalBossesScore + HeroicBossesScore + ItemLvlScore + GuildScore
With :
NormalBossesScore = BossesKilledinNormalMode / NumberOfBossesInNormalMode * 1000
HeroicBossesScore = BossesKilledInHeroicMode / NumberOfBossesInHeroicMode * 2000
ItemLvlScore = ItemLvL / 400 * 50
GuildScore = GuildScore / MaxGuildScore * 300

So basically all that's telling us is that Shina, who's done with progression, is the most geared Warlock in the top US guild and is playing Demo *at the moment*. How does that give us any indication into viability?

You see when you raid in a guild like us that "affi burst" doesn't vanish because the boss dies too quick.

Demo is more rng than the other 2 specs because of its 2pc... if you barely get 2pc procs you can kiss your dps goodbye lol

I am not dissing on demo because that was my spec from 5.0-to the end of op demo.

This. Demo isnt parsing nearly as well as destro or affliction in the current state of the game, and is typically not viable for progression fights versus the other 2 specs.

Also no she isnt the "top ranked" warlock. Do you realize how easy it is to parse right now as demo since basically no one is playing it? Its like winning a race in the special olympics. Not to mention that websites tracking method seems extremely awful.

and if you switch over to average dps rankings ( must have at least 7 heroic parses available to qualify ), affi and destro are both superior to demo.
