Buying laptop for school, work, and quick surfing.

My fiancee is looking to get a laptop for just web surfing and normal use. Ive been looking for one that wont slow down over a few years time and will last a good while.

What are your thoughts on this:

Honestly I think she'll just get frustrated using a laptop with only up to 4 hours (that will probably translate to 2.5-3 in real use) and no SSD.

Acer's newest Chromebook (or HP's newest 14 inch chromebook) come with Haswell Mobile Processors, 4 GB RAM, an SSD, and 8+ hours of battery life (that last bit is the most important, especially for a "normal" user). Any documents can be done in Google Docs, and they're perfect for just browsing. I have the Acer myself, and it's perfect for taking to school or work every day.
