Updating the old races will make them FEEL like new. It's not just the models, the animations and even the textures on those models are going to be updated (perhaps even the armor updated to fit them). A new race might be an attractive idea for some people, but many prefer to play the ones we currently have, and they are in dire need of sprucing up.

Also, nothing says they can't be working on these updates AND add a new race (it's likely they might focus more on the updates, though, since they have been heavily requested).

Plus it opens the room for more customisation options, perhaps unique to each race, as I think this is one thing character customisation is currently lacking. E.g. the option to use stubble on characters, body art, unusual features (within the race's boundaries) etc.

He made a good point about character models being covered up half the time.
Where he went wrong was suggesting in new races since he already pointed out models are obscured with gear anyways.

Agreed. However, you forgot to add "they also make it tedious to roll a toon of certain races a second time".

So, perhaps everyone would be happy with an increase to the pixel density of the back of every race's heads.

why do people think models don't matter cuz armor will cover it up? Do orcs and trolls look the same under the same armor?

It will be great for a week then be forgotten.

Armor is getting bigger and flashier.

Which would COVER up the new models..

You might be able to turn off your helm or your cape but woah so exciting to have a new model which will be covered already. Which would make the new models void.

    Give us new races!!!
New races: many new classes to play with the new races, racialist, min/maxing.
New starting zones for these races

Probably because that's all they said? I also don't think they took any offense to it, they were just stating the OP was only saying because THEY don't want new models, that means everyone else should, too. Not that them taking any offense to it either way means anything, you just want to imply they're offended because for some reason you think it will help validate your (bad) point.

    ANYWAYS-

He did not make a good point about models being covered up. As people have said, lots of people like transmorging into armor that reveals a character more (and we're not talking about the stupid vanilla "Platekini" sets), plus there's the fact that gear would fit on new models better and reduce clipping and the fact new models would have much smoother animations and look/move better in general.

So his entire post not only has no valid point, but it's just him forcing his opinion down the throats of others. Your post is even dumber than his.

    Thank you for playing.

No it isn't. WoW's original models are showing their age. Keeping up with the times is not, inherently, a waste.

The models will look great in Moon Guard Goldshire.

For the rest of us, it'll be the new animations that we care about more than the new boob sizes or HD skins.

Not my opinion, bro. Old races look a decade old standing next to the new ones. Probably because they are. Time to change to that, and many agree!

We have enough current races (who already get so little development) and classes to pay attention to.
In terms of races we have reached a point where we can't really add any new/REALISTIC races *cough*Naga*cough*
So new models for outdated races are the default choice.

I see what you did there.

it's not a waste at all. the game looks so old and outdated it's painful to even play it. the whole damn game needs a complete graphical overhaul.

OP is kind of right. New animations will / would be far more of an impact than model changes really. 3 weeks after they hit, you will see very little chatter about them except from the folks who really hate the way the new ones look (and I'm sure there will be plenty of that).

Spending well over 90% of your time zoomed way out, looking at the ass end of your toon who's covered by armor and a cloak doesn't make new models all that gamebreaking.

See a dwarf female and a pandaren run and cast next to each other, even if covered in armor, and you'll see there is a world of improvement to be made on animations alone. In addition, all the NPCs will be updated as well, so it's not only your characters that'll change. Plus the other players in battlegrounds and raids will look better too. It makes more difference than you think. You can do without it, but once you get it, you'd never return to the old.

New animations are the big part of new models, and new animations take up most of the work. If you're creating a whole set of new animations for the race models, you'd be dense not to give them new models while you're at it. The models can also be restrictive when it comes to animations; for example, some models not actually having fingers. You NEED to change the model if you want to give them an up-to-date /point.

The old models (which includes animations) are almost a decade older than Pandaren, and put side-by-side, it shows. New models are necessary, one way or another.

Well, might just be me, but I see it like this; even if the model is covered by armor, do I know it looks bad under it. It's like a car that is rusty and shit, that have just a nice paint over; it's still bad under the good looks that wont last forever. (And will always annoy me lol)

I would love a update on models (and new races as well), so no, I don't agree with you OP.

LOL What? Armor is getting bigger and flashier? I'd say its the opposite. When i compare MoP tiers and season PVP armor to that from say WotLK I see a big difference in flash and substance. Of course Art is subjective, but it's pretty obvious I would have thought that todays armor just has a boring factor going to it. Of course some class's tiers are outliers to this.

And you might find getting new models to be pointless, but I for one would LOVE it. I'm sick of having to keep a helmet on my male human 24/7 to avoid looking at the down syndrome face. I'm sick of feeling like it's 2002 when I play a Tauren because their fur is so shabby looking. Male Draenei could have been an amazing eredar type race but instead everyone hates them because they resemble space goats with genitalia hanging from their chin. Also it would be nice to be able to play Night Elves and not have our ears just pop through our helmets looking like they grew out of the helmet instead of our heads.

Some models held up well over the years such as Orc, but so many desperately could use updates. I'd also LOVE if they'd make trolls look like the Amani trolls and have muscular bodies instead of being limped skinny beasts. Just give us the option to choose which we'd like for example would be awesome.
