Why is everyone up in arms about getting a new model for their characters.

It's a waste.
It will be great for a week then be forgotten.

Armor is getting bigger and flashier.

Which would COVER up the new models..

You might be able to turn off your helm or your cape but woah so exciting to have a new model which will be covered already. Which would make the new models void.

Give us new races!!!
New races: many new classes to play with the new races, racialist, min/maxing.
New starting zones for these races
Alts!
Much more of an impacts

You did stop and realize that this would also effect all the quest NPCs in the world with player models? I don't think you did. Also, anyone who wants to see their character can transmog into armor that shows off more of the model.

Let's remove character models, they're just a waste.
Let's make everyone cubes and the only customization you have is the colour of said cube!
This would also remove the need for modeling gear, so that would make sure development time isn't wasted on that!

Gee, I dunno, so much "armor" is just body paint, there's very little that actually obscures the body's shape, and instead is more faithful to the body's form than even a leotard. It'd be nice if characters had body shapes that were flattering to more of the impressive artwork they use on some of the more recent armor.

Then there are the players who want both new player character models AND brand new race(s). Why limit yourself?

Whenever I'm on the character creation screen or leveling lowbies I wonder why the hell there aren't new models out already, some if not most of them look downright terrible.

there are alot of people that actually do look at their character, and new models also mean new ways of how gear will look on a human for example, a more "active" way of standing and emote's that actually work very well!

I for example have done alot on wow, rp,pvp,pve etc etc but i still want my character to look good

How can new armor cover up better animations? And you do know that new races will be covered up just as much as by armor as old ones? What do new classes have to do with new models? I can't remember offhand when someone said something on these forums that was so stupid when they believed themselves to be so enlightened. Much more of an impacts!

Especially for casters (my main is always a caster, mage specifically). High level male Human mage is kind of sort of barely acceptable but lowbie one just makes me want to play different race, it looks atrocious and even more so on low level gear (while it's been better since Cataclysm when they introduced shinier lowbie gear, it's still horrible).

We need new character models just for the body types.

OP, this is an MMORPG, of course the players are going to be attached to their character and his/her appearance, that's literally one of the points of the genre.

How are new races any more memorable than new character models? New character models might not be that exciting if you just started playing a year ago, but to people that have been around for several years it is much more exciting. I don't see how new models would be forgotten in a week when we're staring at them the entire time while playing the characters.

New models = all the NPC models in the game changing too and there's a little thing called transmog where you may not be as covered. Basically it means the game will look 10x better overall since there will be a lot less stuff bringing down the overall quality. I don't care too much either way but I do believe it needs to happen and it's definitely a change for the better. Just compare the models to more current games or even new WoW models. It's almost worse than PS2 graphics, lol. New animations will be awesome.

Why are you up in arms over them being up in arms.

Some models could be a bit more appealing by today's standards... no harm in them getting a face lift. And muscle/tummy tuck if need be.

I suppose it might matter less to those who played with the camera zoom so far out that they never pay attention to their character in the first place. Me, I play close. (Not that mine would be getting updates.)
