Need advice on a video card upgrade

Next week I want to order a new video card. I'll have about $200 USD saved up.

    My current machine is:
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz
    Motherboard: Asus P5E-VM DO
RAM: 5GB (it's 2 different brands, but all are the same timing [5-5-5-15])
Video Card: XFX nVidia GeForce GT 240

Yes, I know, my cpu/motherboard are ancient tech now, but it's rock solid still, and I don't have enough to upgrade both, and I'll get the biggest boost out of a new graphics card.

My main stipulations are price (no more than $200 shipped), and I only want an nVidia card. I refuse to use an AMD card (Personal reasons. Every one I've ever used has died within a month).

    Currently, I'm looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125443
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127699 (Same as above? Its base price is higher, not sure what the difference is)
and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121728 (Slightly cheaper, than the other two)

I've been out of the pc building scene for awhile, so I'm not entirely sure what to look for. (Last time I really did it was in like 2008-2009) and I know the model numbers mean different things than they used to (ie, I'm used to the old GeForce cards where an 8800 was better than, say, a 7800).

I primarily play WoW, Skyrim, and Battlefield 3/4.

Which power supply do you have?
    8700K (5GHz) - Z370 M5 - Mugen 5 - 16GB Tridentz 3200MHz - GTX 1070Ti Strix - NZXT S340E - Dell 24' 1440p (165Hz)

I forget the brand, but it's a modular 580W (says 650w max load). It can handle it (I've put a 650 Ti in this thing to test it, friend had a part DOA and wasn't sure which it was)

    I would spend a extra 19.99 $ and get this card : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D=3938566&SID=

Which should handle any settings on BF3 & BF4 (you might wanna do some overclocking for maxed though).
    Going from a 660 to a 670 would be about a 34+ % increase.

I doubt he can run BF4 on any setting... with my 3770K and GTX 780 I sometimes dip down to 70 fps, so he will most likely dip below 60 (everything on max)

If you've got a grand to drop on the best GPU on the market and then some more dough on the shit you will need to go with it.

I don't really care if it does go below 60. I'm used to averaging 20-30 fps, so anything better than that is good to me. My current card is.. pathetic. The only reason I can do any gaming on it is that I know how to tweak the software side of things to get every last bit of performance.

I don't see the huge deal about "OMG HAS TO BE 120FPS OR IT SUCKSSSS". But to each their own.

If I had a grand to drop, I'd be upgrading the whole computer, not just my video card. O.o

Sadly, my upper limit is $200. I'm on a very tight budget.

He just said that he can only afford to upgrade the graphics card... and then you link him a titan that is more than 4 times the price of the cards in the OP... and Titans are extremely overpriced on top of that...

Best * SINGLE * GPU.. 690 still beats a titan.

Well any pro-gamer will tell you that playing any game below 60 fps is just sub-optimal to say the least. I generally go by fps>graphics. And playing a FPS at 20 fps is really bad... heck any game that has what is supposed to be smooth movement is really bad at 20 as it does not even look fluid anymore.

But generally the more fps the better. You can never have too much (as long as your screen supports it ofc).

Well 4x titans beat 2x 690, so he should just get that! right?... right?

    That's then $4000 VS $2000... so yeh..

Anyway, for the money you want to spend? Surely a 660 ti is what your after?

GTX Titan is not the best GPU on the market, it's also irrelevant seeing OP has a max budget of 200 $.

If you can't chip in a extra 20 $ for the 670 which Is really a great offer at 220 $ btw, I think a 660 would do nicely and is recommended for high/ultra settings for BF4.

Idk what price the other one was showing for you, but it was showing $250 for me, which is about $70 more than the other cards I was looking at.

I might be able to swing it though. I'll know for sure on wednesday. Thanks for the suggestions so far. And if anyone else has any more ideas, I'll keep an eye on the thread till I make my purchase.

You will have to pay 250 $ at first but you will receive a 30 $ rebate code from MSI.
It's a hassle and If you can't be bothered then the 660 is great no doubt.

Placing my order in the morning. Torn between the following 3 cards. The biggest difference seems to be manufacturer. Anyone have any opinions between the 3? (I'm leaning toward the PNY. I know that brand more, and I've had trouble with Gigabyte in the past)
GIGABYTE GV-N660OC-2GD GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
PNY VCGGTX660XPB GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
MSI N660-2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

PNY has lowest failure rates according to this lot. It is data from a single store, but it's the largest in France.

Anyway, 660 is indeed a decent choice at that budget.
