It's nice that it's a mix of open world and instanced, but I agree, the constant spam of knockdowns/explosions is pretty tiresome. Fortunately you can just zerg through the events outside the instances pretty easily, once some people stack up on it. I like that the instances scale for solo or group play, that makes them much more enjoyable for someone like me who prefers to keep to themselves. It seems to be more profitable than the offshoot events were, too, so again a nice plus. I'll be glad to get my meta done, though. Heavy AoE spam from mobs in tight corridors is not enjoyable.

I haven't had issue with the knockdowns or snares. Maybe because I'm used to PVP?

Either way, I like it so far. Not zergy. The largest group I've had is 6-8. I went in solo and it can be punishing for individuals. I would group up temporarily with others as we tried to navigate the place. I've been inside two nightmare chambers. One was a clockwork, the other was Zoijja from my personal story. Someone posted pics of fighting Tybalt. =(

The tower itself ended up being a mix of everything people were speculating about.

Bring stability, stunbreakers and cleanses. Also you might find an ele & guardian especially handy

I've done 6 of the small instances inside so far.
Solo - fairly easy, had elements from my personal story which was all like </3
    Duo - Veteran mobs
3 players - Champ Toxic Clockwork

Haven't done the Heart of the Tree yet, don't spoil it for me!

Overall I'm really impressed with the instance/zone w/e you want to call it, the mazes, the ramps, the NPC storytellers and the fact that the tower will stand until a server takes it down gives it that whole dynamic world feel. It's really impressive, they put a lot of work into this.

I think the main thing is to make sure you stick with the group until you've unlocked the 3 levels, if you're not running your own group, then do the instances. So you don't exit the instance to find yourself alone.

I like the zone, I like the setup, but the mob density and inter-screwability is a bit into the "just to mess with you" stage for my tastes.

I ran my elementalist to the top, did the Heart, won't spoil anything. I only really had major problems with one area of it, but that was a lot of deaths for me. I didn't want to lose progress to exit for repair (I assume I would have), and when I got to final area, talked to Marjory and saw she Repairs as I mentioned.

The finale is fun enough, but it still doesn't explain HOW Scarlet is doing all this or add much depth to it, so I wish they'd integrate more villains besides her.

I may be the only one that like Marjory's Journal and the ability to replay the cutscene, but I wish they'd do more things like that.

And lastly, Kasmeer is being a little too wimpy, don't like that at all.

I actually had no problems with the solo-instances, mostly just level 3 groups with CC, toxin, mines, et cetera.

Well was able to solo to third level, but third level's toxin damage certainly punishes a solo player. It will probably be better once I learn the layout better.

    * Solo Arena players will now be shuffled before joining a match to promote a more even and challenging game.

this took a frikin year! I always thought this was the case but now it's black on white. How the hell can a-net ever think that a game without an equalizer will become an e-sport?
This is ridiculous, time to tap out for me.
In most cases, I understand the other side's viewpoint and how they came to it, but cannot tolerate their stubbornness to not see mine (the right one).

All permanent gathering tools will now be account bound rather than soulbound. For one week, account-bound versions of the Jack-in-the-Box Scythe and Bone Pick gathering tools will be available in the Services category of the Gem Store for 1000 gems each.
Previously purchased permanent gathering tools can be upgraded to account-bound versions by unequipping them and bringing them to a Black Lion Weapons Specialist.
Following up to this, they are offering a refund to players that purchased more than one set back when they were soulbound (if they prefer to share one set of tools between their characters that is).

Even better news. I do have two sets of each tool but I'll still use one set to share between my alts and keep one set with my main. Still having that refund option is a great move.

well gotta say, nightmare tower, not fun at all

think I'll be taking a break from the game

I think it would be more fun if you didn't have to run all the way to the top every time(even starting from L3 is a pain)just to hit up the chest and the last instance area for fighting the hybrid. That and all the AoE and mortars and the knockdowns/immobilizes every ten steps really makes it annoying. Be glad to finish the meta and be through with it. The solo instances are a good step forward, I'm very pleased they added those. Now do it somewhere it's not such a damn mess to get to them!

    yeah...

usually don't complain but this is easily my least favorite update for the game, even the SAB was better and I didn't like that one bit

anyway, plenty of other games for me to play, will take a month off from here or however long this update is

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I really like the tower, and I like needing to climb at least the last third of the tower each time. I want to see the various bosses within the Chambers, and collect the keys since I've been getting pretty decent rewards for opening the final chest. There's also some challenging situations within the Tower.

Unfortunately, it seems the final boss isn't doing much damage. I am not sure if its bugged or what, but its attack barely dent players right now.

Given they're talking balance changes for Dec 10th, I'm guessing that'll be the start of Wintersday and when the Toxic stuff will be fully over.

Yawn this update was pretty terrible, seems like the devs aren't trying anymore. I hope they are working on an expansion, because updates like this won't help keep players around.

I'm glad they put Marjory and Kasmeer's weapons in the game. Love them! Though, the Staff does look a bit weird on my Guardian, I just can't stop looking at it

I'm not really a fan of this update either, but it's not really the contents fault, it's how my fellow players act that I've encountered in my travels through the tower that are making it bad. Many times I've come across small packs of mobs that I have no problems fighting until a random player runs by bringing more mobs which sometime contain a veteran or even an elite with them and they don't even bother to help fight them off even though it's their fault that that group of enemies even got close to me and is now attacking me. Or often times if you get downed people will just run past you, even if the area you are in is relatively safe.

Unfortunately I was in constant overflow last night within the tower where the groups were scarce and the only ones really around were the people who just rush by and don't wish to help out or form groups. I still got some achievements to do within the tower, hopefully I can get on my actual server and find more coordination going on there.

    my feelings exactly

once I got to the 3rd level of the tower it was just a nightmare (pun and all). although I'm not a fan of all of the knockdowns and knockbacks that still wasn't the issue, it was the fact that there was no organization to get through and for me it was impossible to go through solo. People would rush through trying to super hero and subsequently die. If you try to help someone there forget about it (one, other people will just run past you and two, you will die your self if you are the only one trying to help someone up). I don't mind going in a group of 3 or 4 or even more (all is needed is for 4 or 5 folks to comfortable get through plus the group event at the end) but being stuck in overflow just sucked for this. I can't imagine this content being run after a week or so when the zergs die down.

The hard part for me is that I do like the tower, and the instances, and even the story. It's just all scaled wrong, IMO.

It's fine to have a few bad guys when you round a corner, but an elite and a veteran and a couple CC tossing regulars, while standing in the hallucination and damage inducing toxin? It's just a bit much for me, makes it unfun.

I like the dagger and the staff, even bought the staff.

But the dagger also being 600gems is a bit unfair, in the same way that mats are. I'm supposed to get two of them, while my staff guy only needs one. Same with ascended and stuff.
