That article was about the National Air and Space Museum not the Smithsonian...
Pssst... the National Air and Space Museum is part of the Smithsonian.

I dunno, that stuff is pretty cool, and it's a cool museum to visit with a lot of cool stuff, but hard to top seeing space shuttle Discovery in their other building across the line a bit in Virgina. Surprised it wasn't mentioned.. maybe due to location? (I did see it there within a few days after it was flown to that building, was pretty awesome.)

The space suits are pretty cool, but the rest just looks like junk to me.
