I just don't see them applying the damage reduction to FnB spells, or else you wouldn't be able to take that talent on fights with any aoe whatsoever. You'd be swimming in embers much faster than you could spend (one FnB incinerate on 3 targets would be a net positive on embers -- with 4 targets and a decent crit rate, you'll be at 4 full embers in two or three casts) ... and if you don't have a way to spend them it's pointless

I guess it comes down to specific scenarios. 'Cause on a fight where there are two or three adds and the boss is in execute range, your rotation turns into "FnB Incinerate x1 -> Shadowburn, rinse and repeat"

except the meteor dmg is spread out over time aka likely a dispellable dot afterwards. and in burst aoe scenarios in pve likely wont tick its full duration. Also its instant but has a 3 second falling time if you read the tooltip. Not to mention cataclysm is basically an aoe chaosbolt lol.

    Btw cataclysm is dog shit compared to the feral version of it. LOL aoe rakes.. wtf was blizzard thinking ;-;
Yea an aoe chaosbolt is awful. I can see it now. Sha of Pride like adds spawn on a 1 minute timer, 3 locks drop cataclysm, adds gone. Yolo. Such a terrible spell, i agree.

Okay so first off, the Mage meteor spell is a meteor spell. The damage is split between all targets. So as an AoE, Cataclysm is infinitely superior. Second, I'll agree that Cataclysm is a bit plain compared to the other two. But OTOH it's good to have a plain option that doesn't majorly change your playstyle, for the people who are entirely happy with how their spec already plays. And finally, these are the pre-Beta versions. Expect many changes before release.

no use getting excited about them.
anyone of us who have been playing a lock more than 1 patch should know they have a habit of taking good things away from us, its not even in Beta yet so its guaranteed to change.

I don't get where the 100% meta uptime is coming from (even if they actually mean 99% since you'd apply Corruption before going into Meta)

Did I miss something, or wouldn't you want to pop out of Meta to HoG ? Target switching = reapply Corruption ? HoG to aoe add packs that will last more than a few seconds ?

afaik, HoG is only better than CW because of the Fury component. In a situation with infinite Fury, I'd imagine CW would come out ahead. However, it's faaaaar too early to tell anything yet

Several months before expansion warlocks get : SUPREME CHAOS EXPLOSION OF DOOM ! .... after it's released we'll get a stick.

It's been like that since forever really, everything that seems good probably won't stay long might be pessimistic but call it experience after living through years of expansions and nerfs.

sorry guys... but an istant is.. istant! A spell with long cast time is counterabile in pvp, need to move and losing cast/dps in pve...

For me is BETTER an istant with less damage like new mage talents. Not this long-cast cataclsym.

You know, the same could be said about Chaos Bolt and I kinda lost count on how many complaints I've seen about Chaos Bolt in PvP although I'm pretty sure if I were to combine every post with a complaint about Chaos Bolt being too strong into 1 thread, it would easily reach 100 pages.

Cataclysm is like an AoE version of Chaos Bolt, huge damage and hard to land but not impossible. If the damage is as high as I expect it to be, people are going to complain about it.

Besides, what's the point of having another instant ability with little damage when you already have Fel Flame and instant Incinerates?

Also, I second your thoughts on demo/destro with chaotic ressources. Sounds insane haha.
Now correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there a time in the mop beta where the Doomguard was doing almost as much as 50% of the warlocks damage? It was a pretty potent cooldown but when your 10 min cd does as much damage as a mage's mirror images, something is wrong...

uhh i dont think you read the talent very well. Thats not how it works.

Soulfire in meta still costs 160 demonic fury or whatever. You spam ToC to generate fury ( thus keeping you in meta ) and you use your procs on soulfire, or if you're super high on fury. If you think you only need to use toc when there is aoe you're gonna fall out of meta.

Early days yet, they're placeholder talents. Don't get too attached.

doesnt mean we cant theorycraft with what we've got. It certainly beats sitting here twiddling our thumbs.

With ToC generating that much fury and still not scaling from haste, looks like we'll be stacking mastery/crit. Also sounds like we'll always be in Melee since 100% Meta also spells out 100% immo aura. Wonder if we will be able to get enough MC procs to burn the fury we can generate with ToC.... Hopefully we wont see ourselves casting non MC soulfires because they have higher DPET than ToC or caster SB.

Wonder if Cataclysm with be included in Mannoroths spell list, at least for range if not dmg. Potential for some nice talent synergy.

I do not think the cast time of Catacylsm will be as bad as people think it is... I also don't think it will be the talent to choose for PvP anyways, so complaining of its interrupt potential seems pointless.

I think they need to give us a better understanding of how the Summoner talent will work. Replace current demons or a second full time pet? Replaces 10min cds or on top of them? What bonus spells will they give us if any? GoSac? GoSup? GoServ?

The new talents do have some great potential. Excited to see how they evolve

Of course it is way to early in the process and things will likely change, but with this talent touch of chaos becomes the DF generator and Chaos Wave, Soul Fire, Doom, etc are the DF consumers. Makes the spec much simpler (too simple?).
That's the idea. When Blizzard makes Warlocks flavor of the decade, you have alot of ppl flocking to it "I KAN PLAY WARLOX TEW! BUT TEW HARD". Then Blizz has to dumb them down.
Perfect example of why "community" forums are poisonous to the health of a development team. These developers are wasting hundreds of hours trying to stem the tide of incessant bitchery that would never, ever abate so long as these entitled, unfortunate human beings don't get their way.
