A victim murders a bully, does he deserve to be punished harshly?

Was the person's life in danger? If not it isn't self defense. If the person getting bullied brought a gun with the intent to use it, then it is premeditated first degree murder. Since when do we allow high school kids to be the judge, jury and executioner. Harassment is a crime but is not one punishable by death. Any kid who kills someone because they think that they should be able to decide who lives and who dies is far more dangerous to society than a bully.

Bullying happens when the people supposed to protect the victim don't. Victims of bullying have to withstand several types of violence (physical, emotional, mob-violence), very often for years, very often asking for help repeatedly, without receiving any assistance other than "man up" or "beat up your bully and earn his respect".

Continued aggression over time should enable legitimate defense at any point in time, even if at the moment the bully is not abusing the victim (even bullies rest).

I hate to see that shit. And that's always how it happens. They ignore that shit until the poor kid finally pushes back, and then suddenly the world is ending.
