It will definitely change the game for the worse. It just messes with the game's integrity in the long run.

Of course it would have happened eventually anyway, I just didn't expect it to happen so soon while the game is still extremely lucrative with it's sub model.

    It's pay-to-fucking-win. I can't believe people aren't on the verge of riot.

They're charging money to avoid fixing the main issue people have with WoW -- that leveling sucks. They need to address that head-on.

Granted, I think allowing returning players to boost to 90 is probably a smart move, but ultimately, it's a band-aid for a much larger problem. Selling 90's would pretty much ensure they never fix the core issue, and in fact, might even make the process even more.

Granted, I don't necessarily think they have ill intentions when they mentioned the possibility, but I think we need to make it known that we do *NOT* approve of double-dipping.

This. This community is becoming silly. The fact that the in favor vote is winning is just sad. People really don't understand the consequences of this action, but I'm not about to expect critical thinking from the average person here.

However, if they start putting such things directly into an in-game store, we'd better be getting ~$2-5 slashed off the monthly sub. It's rather unreasonable to continue adding more and more 'premium' services and expect people to continue paying the same monthly fee as when there weren't even realm transfers.
you are talking about them adding yet another micro-transaction to a game that you already have to pay for. yet you only think this should lead to a REDUCTION in the subscription fee (the third way that Blizzard charge you to play their game).

this right here is why things have gone the way they have in WoW folks. Blizzard have managed to brainwash their customers to have expectations so low that they can get away with pretty much anything. its like buying a car, finding out you still have to pay rental fees to be able to drive it, then finding you have to pay extra to change the tyres.

I still think there should be some stipulations on it, I don't like the thought of players who join the game at WoD being able to get a free level 90 when they haven't had one before.

However I can see one advantage to this is it would help put a stop to the gold farmers who get paid to level a character from 1-90. I would also guess it would be a lot cheaper. I have never done it and never would do it or purchase gold but I am all for Blizzard putting a wrench in a gold sellers services. Yes some people still would do it, but a vast majority would just purchase one from the Blizzard store.

Where's the option for "I would love to buy more 90s because the Blizzard quest system if a mind-numbing grind that drives me insane, but I'm currently a poor mo-fo that cannot afford to purchase another account and all the expansions."?

WAY too late. Blizzard have been triple-dipping for years now. there should NEVER be any paid for transactions going on in a game with a box price and a subscription fee already there. not only is it just plain greedy, but you end up creating situations like you had with low pop realms; there was NO push from Blizzard to try and solve the problem, because it was generating server transfer income for them.

in this situation, they are going to try and make extra money out of how bad the levelling experience is. because not only is it cheaper than fixing levelling, it actually makes them money. as an outsider, i find it hilarious. and a bit sad.

Pretty bad poll options. I won't mind if they add boosts to 90 to the game store. Don't want to pay for that, or can't pay for that, level up the old fashion way. I'd personally never buy it. I'm much more likely to get burned out with levelling if every character I'm "levelling" would only have to do 90 to 100. Having an alt at 30, another at 50 and another at 80 at least gives you variety.

I have more issues with pets and mounts being store bought, with no option to get them in-game. Especially with battle pets that can be stronger than anything you can find in-game.

So leveling to the max level of the previous expansion is winning? Winning what? Don't understand the Pay-2-Win-argument at all.

Fixed for you, because this is what's ACTUALLY happened. Having a convenience to skip a large part of the grind like this is actually a HUGE step. I'd actually be surprised if Blizz don't eventually sell "Catch-Up Epics" similar to what have been dropping all over Timeless Isle. It wouldn't be "Pay-To-Win" according to most people, because you still wouldn't be in max gear and would have to gear up in current Raids still first.. it'd just save you some of the time on the grind!

It all comes down to what the "Win" is that you're paying for.

It's only a matter of time unfortunately. As much as a couple of years ago I would be completely against it given Blizzard's actions regarding Server Population Issues and milking that to the extent they have I'm not surprised. They will eventually add Gear to the store, because they have gotten away with Mounts, Pets and Transmog and now are looking at Characters. Next it will be Timeless Isle style Gear and Transmog Sets, and then we will move onto Raid Gear, until you can purchase everything you could ever want.

I suppose the one thing I don't mind as much about this is the fact you can still do it in game, or get a 90 Character. My big issues with the previous stuff is that it hasn't been obtainable in game, and there are things, like that amazing Fairie Dragon and the Horde Bat, that I will never get because I don't want to pay extra for them.

The consequences with so many free Characters and buying them will be felt in game, through those that play on them or experience others playing on them. Any player, who has just picked up the game could say I want to create a Level 90 and just not have a clue how to play it, get to 100 with just as much confusion, and then try and Tank or Heal a Raid. Have fun with that.

For me I'll get a free Druid probably, given I don't have one yet. I don't have a clue how to play it, so aren't you guys lucky you'll have me in your first instance ready to Tank?

If you give the idea some thought - it makes a whole lot of sense. They have four expansions and 30 levels between Vanilla and WoD. Plus, its only one character per account that can do this.

On the other end, some players don't have the time to fully level up two characters. I have a Druid that is my main and gets played 99% of the time. My next highest alt is a level 72 mage (I've been playing on and off since Vanilla). This opportunity would finally allow me to level up my mage within reach of top-tier.

Still have to grind 10 levels with each 90.. still have to gear all those 90s as well.. wouldn't call it 'Pay to win'.. now if you could buy arena gear... yeah.

work for a few hours to afford to buy a lvl 90 or spend a week leveling tough choice

You fixed nothing. Do you understand we talk about NOT what happened but about people's reaction?

And when blizz added mounts to store no one complained if they add pets in a year. But everyone QQed "wahhhhhh tomorow blizz will sell epics". Same shit happens with every store addition.
