Would you rather die or have your mind uploaded onto a computer?

People fear death more than anything, fearing the possibility of an afterlife or ceasing to exist entirely. If you discovered a way, to however, upload your mind into a computer's database, would you do it? There, you would technically exist forever and be immortal in that space you live in. The only way you would cease to exist is if your database was deleted, or the computer(s) your mind is attached to is destroyed. The cost of this however, is you are forever alone, and trapped in a space of blank darkness and numbers, and your only source of communication are the people who turn on the computer. There is otherwise nothing to do in this existence, and you can only quietly contemplate your memories of the life before.

Exactly! It will be a clone, it wouldn't be the original you, the original you would still be dead. Now, if they managed to transport my entire brain along with the spine in a mecha-body, then yes, I might be up for it, otherwise... it's just creating a clone of me.

Given that description...just put me in the hole and be done with it.

But if I could upload to the Internet...and games...basically become a part of anything and everything online whenever I wanted. Would be the equivalent of heaven for me.

Well, I would choose to have my mind uploaded, as long as it was uploaded to a shemale porn database.

Does the computer have internet access?

Would my consciousness be transferred along with the contents of my mind? Because it doesn't seem worth it to be a bunch of data in a computer and nothing else.

Oh, and as long as it doesn't end up like the Nekron in Warhammer 40k. That'd be horrifying.

You're in control of the computer so yes, you can access whatever is in it, only if it is turned on of course.

Then I would rather be uploaded to the computer. I would try to convince people who turn on the computer to leave it on 24/7.

Can't I upload myself to the entire Wired instead (btw, I knew it was a Salandrin thread without looking, mainly because you mentioned Lain in the other thread.)

I totally wouldn't mind, I'm on the internet all day anyways. Also, no more sickness, or this damn back pain <.<

I would become worse than Skynet.
It would be dark inside my head...if not for the fires...

There's a big difference in uploading a copy of your brain and somehow connecting the brain itself and keeping it alive. The latter would still be you.

Whats the difference between a brain and a sufficiently powerful computer/network?
