I think the gear changes are great. This will bring back the importance of tier pieces and set for sure. We may see people keeping tier sets longer into each raid now. And BiS will have much more meaning again.

The fact that you'll be able to throw in a piece of gear without needing to do 4-5 things to use it is great.

I like the idea in principle -- just equip a new item if it drops! -- but it's also really convenient to be able to swing 10k stats between secondaries as needed, we can on live.

That said, now that the primary stat will adjust to your spec, everyone (who isn't in cloth) will suddenly see twice as many drops that are relevant for them. So maybe the reduced capacity to modify secondaries on gear won't matter as much, because you'll be able to pick up more offset gear.

Also it really depends on how they handle spirit and +armor. If those are just on misc. armor slots like it sounds, then on main armor pieces there will only be three secondaries to pick from: crit, haste and mastery. If BrM stat priorities stay the way they currently are, then the choice for leather slots is obvious: take crit/mastery for everything.

If instead they add a 4th DPS stat (crit damage? multistrike? clearcasting? maybe pure AP/SP?) that is replaced by armor or spirit when you change specs, things are more complicated. +Armor is stupidly good for us, so we'd want armor/crit or armor/mastery and then would be back to needing to pick up a second piece to switch between crit and mastery.
