it's also possible (i've done a v7900 and dual 590s) and works really well in windows, it has the advantage of letting you use the firepro for view port modeling, and the titans for live cuda rendering or acceleration, and then when you are done rendering, you can use the titans for gaming

Can swap to CF 290 or 290X once you see non-reference units.

If you're only going to do 1080p then swap to two Asus PB238Q and just start out with one highend GPU, imo.

So you want to spend more money for the same or less performance?

Anyway, how much will the OP be using his PC for CAD etc. I would also look at computing performance.

$5000 build with one screen? Madness! If there's anything all that money would be funneled into it's the screens... just my opinion though of course. :O

    In a single game. <_<

I reckon someone who invests five grand in a PC doesn't want it to be a leafblower.

Anyway, it is worth checking individually for the programs used, in professional software there are significant differences between manufacturers.

for AutoCAD 2D performance, it seems like the Radeon R9s are infinitely better than even the 780Ti, according to Tom's Hardware.

From anandtech, single and double precisicion seems to favor Nvidia. And I have no idea what kind of computing work the OP does :P So I will leave it at that
