WoD got me thinking about something

Trust me, this'll be "Off-Topic" appropriate.

OK, so in WoD Garrosh goes back in time and creates an alternate time line in which he brings technology to the orcish tribes of old and through that technology creates the Iron Horde. Now, I'm sure they'll use some magical reasoning as to how he brought technology with him as we know he's not schooled in the ways of metallurgical science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, and all the other skills one would need to truly bring technology with him.

As an electrical engineer, this has piqued my interest.

My question is this. Say you were transported back to the year 1800. As an average guy/gal (or perhaps above average) what technology do you think you could bring to those people? Not just thoughts and reasoning behind how modern stuff works, stuff that you can actually build and create yourself (like you be credited as the inventor of said technology). How do you think it would change the world?

I'd have to agree with that. I'm a service technician, for various copier makes and models, but I doubt I could build one from scratch. That said I might be able to build say a generic clutch drive system, which can be applied to any number of applications. I know something of electrical workings and theory but definitely not enough to build an electrical generator or anything fancy.

I'm just a couple of steps up from "Don't put a nail in this hole in the wall."

It is a pretty good question though.
