What's the point of it? To let some people obtain it from day one without effort, while others have to spend longer?
I would have it in less than one week, but i would think it was a really poor idea.
I'm okay with some of the items costing money, but not just to make it a pure moneybased item. Would surely not make it feel _more_ legendary.

Or at least consider going into the gold farming business.
4 hr/week for 25 weeks would get you 250k easily.

Do you think the current legendary cloak won't be obsolete in the next (I think you meant) expansion?

Is collecting sigils/runestones/valor/whatever not also "endlessly grinding"?

Grinding out 250k, though, takes around 100 hours. I don't think that's all that much different than the time spent on the legendary quest, although for some players (progression raiders mostly), MOST of the requirements of the legendary quest will be fulfilled just by doing what they normally do.

250k is easily reachable. There are numerous ordinary activities that will reliably make you 2-3k/hr. Just pick one or more of them and do it until the gold is there.
I honestly have no idea which easily doable ordinary activities can give you 2-3k per hour consistently

Exactly, it took me 4 - 6 months of constant grinding of cloth, troggs and enchanting mats to save up 55k for a crimson death charger

one of the most retarded idea ever, go check low populated servers with crafter who used to sell things on ah got banks full of mats and things to sell and no one to buy it.

When u have like 100 active ppl on ur serv its kinda hard to make gold

You're missing my point entirely. I'm aware it's obtainable; there's a reason there is a gold cap. But to base content around people farming gold is HORRIBLE game play design and people would not enjoy it. Not I at least, and I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of the community as well.

This is a good point as well. Every realm is different with different economies. To just make an item cost the gold cap would be alright for someone on a high pop. server, but it'd be complete hell on a low pop. server.

Hell, plain old fishing did that for the first few months of the expansion. Freakin' golden carp even.

There is a pretty much endless list of opportunities to make that amount with a level 90 toon (becomes easier or more varied if you have more than one).

Um, no? The entire quest chain already requires you to do mindless boring crap, why would I want to add more mindless boring crappy grinding of gold to earn it?

There should be skill involved in getting a legendary, and it should be obtainable as quickly as you're able to reach that skill level - That is, once you've completely the grindy crap.

How is that different/better/worse than farming runestones and valor?

No, this would be instead of all the other requirements. The legendary is: JUST. 250k.

  10. #30
it's reachable in 6months NOW because there's so few people trying to make that amount of gold. imagine 75%+ of the level 90 population on your server trying to farm, sell, undercut and play AH all day long. in the end, no one would make gold at all cept for vendoring.

It would get you 250k if you knew that to do and stuck to it, a lot of people don't know what to do and don't want to make hundreds of thousands of gold. Why? Because it's a game and when I make money in WoW I feel like I could be using that time to earn more money irl instead - Raiding and pvp is a test of skill, making gold in WoW is just as boring as making money IRL.

People will jos buy gold not a good idea.

Fixed it for you, this isn't Wotlk. You pretty much gain gold by just logging in.

Its not so easy to get on a dead server tho, where the economy is just screwed up.

How does this make it "legendary"?

Well, first of all, to grind 250K honor or valor or whatever would drive anyone to the brink of suicide. Secondly, you don't obtain valor from just sitting around and collecting items. Lastly, I don't recall a legendary in the past that has asked you to grind points to receive it. Sure, you had to do challenges and go through a lot of content, but to just sit around just collect money to get something that is suppose to be "LEGENDARY" would feel pointless and asinine.

    Not a biggie, i'm gold capped x3.
Sucks for others though. 3,5 million gold for our 14-person guild rooster? Yikes.

Besides, making lots of gold has nothing to do with raiding and this legendary is a raiding reward. Requiring players to have a lot of gold, is like requiring 2200 rating in 3v3 arena, in order to get PVE item. Or say, force PvP-ers to defeat normal mode Garrosh to gain access to highest tier of PVP gear. It's just wrong and will never happen hopefully.

What if there was a PvE side Legendary and a PvP side Legendary that require you to reach 2.2k Rating in 3's as part of the Legendary quest?

Lets come up with other attainable ratings, numbers, caps, skill points, etc and tell everyone else posting how easy it is. By all means, if you can do it, make sure you let everyone else know it.

Gold just like arena ladders has a hierarchy, otherwise NO ONE could attain high levels EASILY if EVERYONE could do it. I guess, since we are on MMO-Champ, you could compare it to socialism like some 'neck, clueless undergrad likes to do on forums of any kind. Wow economists: no need to interject here, I am talking the "easily" part, not the grind 'til you die part.

Its like being on Arena Junkies again... How can you be proud of being good at something if you don't even understand the basic competition ladder concept.

...and yes, I did see someone compare grinding gold to grinding sigils. Sigils you get from raiding, I hope that more pay each month to raid rather than grind gold.
Keep spreading your hatred and certainty. Good luck with your civil war!

The question is why don't people do it? I assure you, it's pretty easy to make gold in WoW. Everyone does it. However, not everyone doesn't spend it all.

If I was as good at not spending real world money as I was at not spending WoW gold, I would be one rich motherfucker by now.
