Thats exactly as dark it is in the left picture, the brighter areas are in moonlight just like the brighter areas in the original. And the two original pictures are on completely different graphical settings.

The graphics are turned down on the picture to the right. Shadows being by far the most obvious. Settings have changed so you can't get a exact match of then and now but this is way off, possibly by design to make the differences even worse.

I have screenshots of pre-BC where I played with shadows on minimum and screenshots of today with the same setting and yeah night looks like crap, shadows have nothing to do with it, it's about the lighting.

The textures in both SS are the same, they haven't changed in 9 years. Actually the pic on the right looks somehow worse.

Okay.. so they are quite clearly taken with different graphical options. And please, please tell me why/ how the OP got EXACTLY the same picture from vanilla and post cata? I can't seem to find the picture anywhere on google (I am lazy and only checked 3 pages), and given this guys hatred for WoW and its community I think that he, without a doubt, took the same picture 3 seconds apart only turned the gamma and graphics down.

Edit: Just went and tried it and guess what? I can do EXACTLY THAT. Now would someone come show this scrub how to post images? <3

You did not play this game when it had dark nights... What exactly are you trying to prove wrong here? I took these myself, check it out.

But if you have to do it every time you log on during the day after logging out at night and vice versa, it will become quite a lot more seconds.
    Statix will suffice.
