Could we ever trust a company like blizzard being able to handle F2P correctly?
I think they'd go a route similar to Lotro or Sto, definitely not an Swtor route.
I think they would make customization a for pay thing but check this: IF they have an expac a year, what is to stop them from making every raid tier + a few dungeons a for pay xpac?
That would be the start of pay to win rite there, and we could be at the dawn of that rite now.
But WoW isn't going to be F2P in the foreseeable future, so what's your point?
Uhh, wow is already pay to win guys.

Well hopefully no P2W at all:
I would suggest limit for Example the Mounts you can ride to three or five for F2P Players. Something like each Month Free Players can pick 3 Mounts from everything they've learnt and only subscribers can mount everything all the time.
Item Appearances: Free Players get only base green gear looks from all PvE content, or base crafted sets for PvP. Like for example you get a Shoulder piece from a boss, and the game offers you to buy it's appearance for 99cent or it will look like the green shoulders you got from questing. No Stats changed of course. Transmogrification could work like that, too.
Really hope it will be appearance things like more Mounts/Items only and no game-impacting changes. Even Quality of Life things like faster Flight Paths or more Bag Space I would disapprove and quit.
They're getting RID of the D3 auction house so we can assume it wouldn't be P2W at all. And without P2W F2P for WoW just isn't feasible. There's no skins or anything that people will want to buy daily. Pets/mounts are not nearly enough to keep them afloat. The only thing I'd justify is Blizz selling gold. To kill Gold Farmers obviously. But that'd seriously fuck up the economy if it were cheap.
Well that's easy.If WoW were F2P, how P2W would it be?
1. You stop playing wow.
2. You pay to buy a new non-f2p game.
F2P works fine without a game actually being P2W, there's loads of games that do it just fine nowadays. Tera is probably one of the best examples of being able to avoid being P2W while still being a fairly thriving game. It's safe to assume that if WoW ever went F2P, then Blizzard would basically take all of the systems that they've seen work very well and profitably in other games, revamp them, improve upon them, and then simply go with that.
I mean.... like. What is something that everyone wants to buy for real cash? : / I just can't think of anything. F2P works for things like LoL because they went in with F2P in mind and their company is being held afloat by F2P purchases. WoW is being held afloat by the mandatory 15 dollar fee (plus faction/appearance/name services and the pet store) and going F2P means they have to make just as much cash or more to not go under.
Blizz has also said that they want to know if F2P is something that works longterm. There were some theories how F2P can only last so many years before everyone who wis going to buy anything owns everything there is to purchase. I know they don't want to go into F2P until they are absolutely sure everything will work out alright.

The cash shop would save you a lot of time in the form of increased valor cap for a week, increased valor gain for a week, more loot coins per week, increased conquest cap, increased conquest gain etc. Everyone would still be able to get everything, rich people will just get there much faster. Obviously there will also be a way to convert dollars to gold, direct or indirect.
If Diablo3 is any indication of how far Blizzard is willing to go for a couple more dollars, F2P WoW is not something that anyone should be looking forward to.
Probably the same or worse than SWTOR. It wouldn't be "pay to win" so much as "pay to not suffer while playing."
