Opinions on CPU and motherboard build

    this motherboard
    http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GA-Z8...=Gigabyte+UD3H
    with this cpu
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CO8TBOW/...=IXBG4HZJAR2UA

I'm honestly not that familiar with computer specs now adays but I want to be able to run all the latest games maxed out or close to maxed out with no lag and high FPS.
will this CPU be able to do this? if not, which would you recommend for serious gaming?
    thanks!

also is there a cheaper motherboard that would do the job?

It's almost always the screencard that will be the bottleneck. Which one are you getting / already have ?

    Moved thread to appropriate sub-forum.

I have the Z87X-D3H myself, the UD3H is a step up (I personally didn't want the red accents because I'm just that vain) and will work fine; They have made changes to processors in such a way that difference between motherboards matter less and less for every generation.
I personally have the i7 4770K but the differences between it and the i5 4670K is non-existant with gaming.

The GTX 470 is still strong-ish but will definitely be the new "weak point" of your new build, so keep that in mind.

For RAM, get 2 identical 4GiB sticks of the one you linked (if possible, buy a pack of them with two together, since they should be verified to work together)
