    build list, any suggestions?

I'm putting together my first build, trying to keep this as close to or under $1000 for the PC. I have a mouse and monitor and have set aside $100 for a keyboard.

    Basic rundown -

    Intel i5-4670k
    MSI Z87-G45
    MSI GTX 760 2gb (or go with a PowerColor 7970 3gb for $30 more?)
    G. Skill Ripjaws 4gb DDR3-2133 x2 (currently on sale for 70 on newegg)
    WD Caviar Black 1tb 7200RPM
    Antec TruePower 650w 80+ Gold
    NZXT Source 210 Elite case

Total atm comes out to $916.50 pre-tax.

Don't really need a cd/dvd drive (survived without one on my macbook)
I also have a copy of windows laying around.
I was gonna add a 250gb ssd but my laptop already has a ssd so figure I won't really miss it.

I plan on running this on my u2412m with a 1920x1200 resolution, mostly playing FPS (bf4, cs:go) and league of legends and some photo editing.

Any suggestions where I might be able to squeeze out some performance with no change in $$$?

Just a piece to think about...

How are you going to install an OS without a CD/DVD drive?

I suppose that's the only option, just want to make sure the OP takes that into account when he puts this together.

If you happen to be within close distance of a Microcenter, then you might be able to get the 4770k+mobo deal, where the 4770k is at $200 in-store. If that's the case, then I'd look into getting a H60 or a Noictua D14.

EDIT: the alternative GPU is the R9-280X DCUII Top, which is $20 less than my TFIV GTX770 in the build above.

Cannot take the ssd out of my laptop (macbook pro) but I do have a 60gb laying around somewhere I can use a boot drive. The only concern I have about this part list is my friend told me to shy away from ASRock motherboards as they are not as reliable as other companies, and I don't mind spending a little extra on it to get more reliability. Now I'm not sure how true this is so this may be a perfectly fine build and I'll have to look more into that!

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm actually about to go to Fry's and try to get a price match on the 4770k. If I can't I'll head to Microcenter which is about an hour away and get it there.

edit: aaaaaaaaaaaand it's normal price again. Wish I hadn't found out about that deal last night at 2am! Oh well..
