    Tips

I just bought a 3770k for 250 and a 4770k for 200 and am looking to build a system that's going to last me.
Are there any good gpus that you recommend?
I am planning to sell one of those CPUs.
I'm looking to upgrade to a 27 inch monitor 2560x1440
Which are good motherboards as well and great for gaming, photo editing, and video editing, and music?

Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?

    Budget: $1000
    Resolution: I have a Syncmaster 2343, but I am looking to upgrade to a monitor that is 27 inches 2560 x 1440
Games / Settings Desired: WoW, Diablo, BF Ultra Settings.
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc): Recording videos/music, Video/Photo Editing.
    Country: USA
Parts that can be reused: I have a 3770k and a 4770k (Don't know which one I should use. Whichever I don't use, will be sold.
Do you need an OS? I can get the windows 8 pro for the student price which is 69.99
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? Already have these parts.

You would keep the i7-4770 most likely. Motherboards for both cpus will cost about the same, but the 4770k is a bit faster. On the other hand, you could probably sell the 4770k for a bit more...

    Motherboard: Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($143.98 @ SuperBiiz)
    Memory: Crucial Ballistix 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($64.99 @ NCIX US)
    Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($173.56 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($82.99 @ NCIX US)
    Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($306.98 @ SuperBiiz)

    Total: $970.46

If it were only for WoW / Diablo 3 then you could go a bit lower with the graphics card, but BF will require some serious performance especially at 1440p resolutions. Alternative would be a GTX 770 for about $30 more, but as you will go for 1440p, you might want to consider a 770 with 4GB VRAM, which starts around $370.

I chose the SSD to be a bit bigger, but if you keep your c: drive clean, you could get away with a 120GB ssd and still keep WoW, D3 and BF on there at the same time. But if you start with video editing it might get very cramped, as you will get big temporary files on there. So probably stay with the 250GB version.

So here is a second build with some modifications to get you to around $1000 with the Windows license.
Differences: Cheaper case, cheaper heatsink, cheaper motherboard, GTX 770 4GB instead of the R9 280X.
