I have no idea why everyone is so hooked on this show it confuses me so much.
Thank god for a new thing i just got.......i can totaly ignore a show when its up and then i can see it later with the ability to skip commericals. (kinda like the old tapes) Doesnt work for HD channels tho .
As for this reality shows....the only reality show i like is total drama ... and thats animated cartoon .
Also seems like old people get hoked more on them then a young generation. My old ones keep watching some cooking reality show.......
Don't sweat the details!!!
Particularly around the holidays, I think part of the appeal is the ability to connect with the family/extended family in the show. Redneck aside, which is entertaining, the show makes you feel as though you are a part of their family. For those who grew up with a close family, it is relatable, and for those who did not grow up with much of a family, it makes you feel included.
I also feel as though the show is very "American Dream" based; people who worked from nothing running with an idea and powerful work ethic leading to great success. It's also family-friendly while appealing to an older audience. It hits just about every aspect and every crowd, which is very difficult to accomplish.
Side note: every episode has a sort of "moral of the story" recap, teaching a lesson. Although it is often silly it's not trashy and mindless to the point of being able to compare it to say, the Kardashians or other BS, imo.
Normally I would have a problem with something like this. I REALLY really hate reality shows but I seen a couple episodes of this show before and I have to say it's pretty funny and they're not just brain dead rednecks. They're intelligent and they have they're own family business and at least they're doing something productive instead of constant stupid shit that you would see happen in high school (only, they're full grown adults in their 30s) like most reality shows do (Kardashians). I do agree though it gets kind of annoying seeing their shit everywhere. I too was in Walmart one time and seen all these Duck Dynasty stuff like towels, pajamas, and all other sorts of random things.

I have not had a cable service in over 2 years. I do not miss it at all.
I do how ever have a netflix account and watch Sci Fi shows from time to time and some movies I missed in the theaters.
The reality show addicts and walmart shoppers can have their silly ducks.

Your name will carry on through generations, and will never be forgotten.
Yall go ahead and make fun of the Robertsons, say what you want. When it boils down to it those rednecks are smarter than you. They make more money than you do.
Seriously, it's a good show. Teaching good family values. It's an excellent break from the informative murder porn on tv. As well as jersey shore and all that garbage.
I can't figure out the fascination with a bunch of duck mass murderers. But then, I can say the same of american idle and all those other popular reality shows that I find to be absolute garbage.
Just look at my location on my profile (you'll see it when I post) and think how I feel about people and reality TV... Every reality show is staged and you can't begin to grasp how annoyed I get when people don't believe that it is fake.

This, pretty much. I'm not even from the US, so "rednecks" are as foreign as can be to me, but all I see in this topic is a bunch of misanthropic internet chatter regarding people that are far more successful than *anyone* in here ragging on them will ever be, and they do it while actually maintaining some decency and values, not with selling sex appeal or atrocious behavior.
Or chasing NBA stars and rappers like they're an endangered species (looking at you, Kardashians).
Googling "duck dynasty" was a really anti-climatic moment for me today
You know what I miss?
Dark Days in Monkey City.
I hate this damn show, it's actually on the history channel, what the hell does this shit have to do with history.... I mean I know the history channel went to hell years ago but I thought they couldn't get any worse, I was wrong.
