Looking to upgrade GPU , bottleneck doubts.

Hi , this is my current setup : i3-2100 LGA 1155 on an asus p8h67 with 8gbs of ddr3 ram

    Gpu : 6870's crossfire.

now with this setup do you think my processor is making a bottleneck?

and i was looking to replace the crossfire with : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121775

and my question is , would that GPU bottleneck with this CPU? Have in mind that I'm from europe , i just linked to newegg so you could get an idea.

my PSU is a nox urano 550W.

If you're going to replace your GPU's I'd look for an R9 280X instead, the price shouldn't be THAT much higher than a 760 and definitely a better performance increase.

But would it bottleneck my cpu? Also I think i Saw that a r9 requires a 750 watt psu

No, why would it bottleneck your CPU performance more than 2 x 6870?

    6 and 8 pin power = ~300W max draw

You're fine with your current PSU.

Next logical upgrade would be your CPU and Motherboard. Hell, if you're mainly playing CPU intensive games like WoW maybe it would be better to replace CPU and motherboard now? Granted it would run you more than the cost of a 280X.

No it doesnt require a 750W psu. Something around 450W is fine.

It really depends how you understand bottlenecking and which games you play.

You will gain extra performance but it really depends. Some games such as Sleeping Dogs are absolutely taking nothing from the CPU and are obviously GPU bound games where you will see an improvement over 6870's. But if we across games like WoW you won't see any gain simply because it's a cpu intensive game and even the latest blingbling cpu's do bottleneck 280x's in 25m raids.

It's not a bottleneck in general, you'll have acceptable gpu loads but you'll see there's more potential left. You can test it by yourself out. I'll give an example: just join a (empty) server in BF3 and monitor your gpu loads with something like msi afterburner and make sure to disable vsync. If your gpu loads are nowhere close to 80-90% then you won't gain any performance in BF3 with a 280x upgrade.

The rating on your cpu is pretty low. Always, before replacing any gpu, make sure the bottleneck isnt the cpu first. The GPU doesn't bottleneck the CPU. The CPU bottlenecks to the gpu.

Data comes to the cpu BEFORE GPU. If your cpu can't process the data fast enough than your GPU will not get the data. The GPU isn't the issue in these cases.

But oddly, the first thing everyone wants to replace is the GPU. You could have 3 of the best gpu's on the market, if your cpu can't process the data fast enough, those 3 gpus will not even appear as good as my old GTX470 that I dual monitor, play wow on ultra, while watching streams on 2nd screen, and searching for my favorite midget gay porn.

    Very well said.

Yeah , that's want i meant to say , that the CPU may be limiting my crossfire and that i wanted to know if it would do the same to a r9
    280x

also , the next upgrade should be this i7 , but i don't have enough money to buy both the processor and the GPU , it's going to be one or the other.

You don't need an i7, just update your bios to the latest version and sell your i3 and get i5 3570k. You can get in the future a z77 board to do some overclocking.
