It won't solve the underlying issue though. The best way to solve this is to simply build more houses. The high prices the government has to cough up are due to not having alternatives. I don't think the state should dictate what prices you're allowed to ask for renting out your own property when they've caused the problem in the first place. It's like the next step is setting a ceiling for how much you can sell your house for to prevent prices to keep escalating.

Yes, shocking news, paying by the day, and per bed, is more expensive than a luxury apartment.

The local cheap motels charge something like $80/night. So over a month, that's $2400/month, which is also way more than a luxury apartment. Because they are not comparable rates. Comparing temporary housing to long-term housing is ridiculous.

In the US, we have had decades of immigration from Spanish speaking countries. And although we have our fair share of extremist anti-types here too, I have only ever had positive interactions with these immigrants. They enrich our collective culture with new ideas, ethics, foods, styles, etc.

i got nothing against the government housing homeless people, but if this source is legit, why would they pick such an expensive place? seems like it would be wiser on the governments part to put them up in cheaper places, rather than move 200 people into a luxury hotel.
