The only good thing about timeless isle is how decent epic gear is being handed out to everyone who want to participate. Aside from that i completely agree with you - Timeless is the worst and i'd take thundering isle dailies any day over constantly running past dead rares and mobs with onehit you're dead abilities...

As a first pass at something that looks like sandbox content it was more miss than hit for me. Tastes vary.

Worst idea ever? Not even close.

And the poll on the frontpage would agree with the people who defend TI. Mind: This on a forum where people are rather critical about anything new Blizzard tries.

Results to that poll are very similar to what they were when TI was released, with ToT a second in favor of the voters.

Timeless island is an invention without true content but various of grinding work. It's a perfect combination of laziness designing and cutting budget.

The votes are actually pretty evenly split, they compare one example of TI style with 3 of dailies so the daily option is somewhat diluted.

I went there and stopped going after the second day.
I do thunder isle instead to fill my waiting time in queue.

Why do you care what other people are doing in the game, seriously. Just leave them alone to play how they want to play.

I still wake up in a cold sweat every night, the nightmare I have is always the same...

"Lalala I'm a pretty elfy hunter collecting flowers around the timeless isle, oo that looks like a golden lotus over there!!"
< A great shadow descends upon me >
"Flutters we better get out of here, I think we have grabbed one of the mobs attention... yes it's chasing us.. RUN!!!"
I start to run, I start to gain some distance on it
"We're almost away flutters we can do this!"
FIERY CHARGE HIT YOU 250,000 DAMAGE
FIERY CHARGE HIT YOU 250,000 DAMAGE
"I can't fight it, I was supposed to be here to get timeless gear on my hunter :'("
FIERY CHARGE HIT YOU 932,184,018,383 DAMAGE (818,381,203 OVERKILL)

    ... bloody fiery charge.

Timeless Isle serves its purpose very well. Those who wanted gear for alts can get it. Those who want to upgraded gear for the slots they've struggled to upgrade can get it. Pet collectors can get pets. Achievement whores are kept busy. World PVP is available again, albeit for a short time only. Those who enjoy grinding are well served with the rep and rare item achievement. The only people who aren't happy are the "I want everything now" crowd. Good.

The Isle was a major convenience to me when I came back to the game. I reupped a couple weeks ago, leveled to 90 with my Warrior and just a few hours afterwards I was able to get nearly a full set of the 496 gear, which allowed me to pick up where I left off in my guild. I was able to jump in to ToT and even SoS flex with my guild the very next day. I can see why some players would dislike the idea of the isle, but for most I can see it as more of a huge convenience for their alts. I personally could care less about grinding coins for items, but It'll be nice when I decide to level my Blood DK too.

the coin grind is there for people who like long grinds like the bonewhite primal raptor, the insane achievement, ect ect.

theres a couple things casuals can buy if they are low on luck but overall its there to be completed by grinders or as a long term goal.

the point of the isle is a bunch of small events, a rare popping up, some kind of item showing up that lets you fight someone, little treasure chests hidden away, secret doodads, a bit of platforming.

its basically a mish mash of all kinds of shit like a little party everywhere you go.

timeless isle was basically a shitstorm prototype of warlords.

think of draenor as being a giant, less compact timeless isle with all those rares, all those treasure chests, all those doodads and npcs and hidden thingamabobs spread out over entire zones
    This.

Essentially, Pandaria was a prototype, Timeless is trying to refine it. If you remember correctly, Pandaria started out with various little "things" you could find all over the continent, from lore bits to random weapons, items and curious things like the Fishing Charm and Kafa Press, and the various rare mobs to kill. It seems Blizz likes this formula, so they used it again on the Timeless Isle and I'm betting Draenor will be loaded with treasures, rares, discoverable dailies/random dailies, etc.

If you think Mindless Isle was bad then just wait for Draenor, an entire continent worth of content that you will be bored of in 18 days!

And that's fine as long as it's not forced. The biggest issue in MoP at launch was dailies required for everything, with rep gated behind dailies and gear behind that rep gated by dailies, and the gear was garbage. I fondly (not really) recall how they had to hotfix the JP gear almost immediately because it was pointed out that by the time you unlocked all the rep to get them, 450 gear would be totally useless.

I wouldn't mind being able to discover optional dailies for something that helps you out, maybe it gives a nice rep bonus or a nice consumable or whatever or they're fun optional dailies like Cloud Serpent, as long as they aren't required for anything. I'd rather see them gate all gear at Honored or even Revered, and make it so you can either hit Honored or get close to Revered just by doing the quests in the zone, with some extras at the end, and kept Exalted for cosmetic things, pets and mounts that do not in any way, shape or form affect gameplay. Something like pre-raid gear at Honored (equivalent to heroic dungeons to fill gaps) which you can get by finishing the related quest chain, and T17 level at Revered, with Revered requiring more than just dailies or grinding to hit.

I like it! You stay as long as you feel like, you can put as much effort as you like in the quests. Plus the mobs are hard enough to serve as "practice dummies" for my DPS toons =)
Some characters I geared up via LFR instead, but geared 4 of them in timeless isle. One of them I put some more effort in.

All the time you took to write about how butt hurt you are and you could have finished the place. Ill admit it was a fairly lame content patch that just bough the devs some time but no one makes you do what you don't want to. I finished the isle except 'need a bigger bag' and I don't plan on ever going back but your sentiment sounds like some one stole all your lunch money and gave you a dirty sanchez. I mean you are one mad teenager. Find an electrical outlet and stick one of your body parts in.. that might make you feel better. Whats to complain about free loot for all your alts? Worst content added imo was the stupid reconquest of Gnomergan.. personally I would have let all the gnomes burn.

"Worst idea" is a bit strong, the Timeless Isle actually has some cool features and ideas...

I really hope it gets improved if Blizzard intends to make the entire endgame of WoD in the lines of the Timeless Isle, though... It would be very shallow if they didn't.

I would like some Thunder Isle exploration with a bit of Timeless Isle and 5.1 questline on top. And some dailies too, without overdoing it.

I get it, you don't like it. But how on earth it's "killing the game"? It's optional content which is actually pretty enjoyable for a lot of people (according to main page poll from yesterday).

the idea of timeless isle is nice but im just there for ordos and celestiels to get my weekly box of gold x2. after getting all the 496 tokens across all toons.. its pointless now to even bother with the bloody place. and speaking of bloody. i pity all the coin farmers and farmers to be when timeless isle ends up with only 1-2 people on it in a week or so. most people just come by once a week for ordos/ cels and then head off.

Timeless Isle > Daily farm, anytime. I go there for 200 valor and lesser charms, which is done very fast. IoT was a pita.

    This island sucks.

    - It´s too far off. Perhaps I would use it with a portal. But even then probably not, because it offers not much I can´t get somewhere else as well.
    - Why aren´t there any Celestial buff-stones on the higher grounds? I don´t need a buff for 1,2m hp mobs. But such a buff would be welcome for fighting the Ordos mobs.
    - Ordos. wtf. Why does a trash mob drop warforged nhc gear?
    - What´s that stupid PvP idea there? Why isn´t PvP not connected to the grind? PvP should be easier the more you grind. But like that? It´s the lamest low skill ganking area ingame. Not to mention the broken PvP-Gear.
