    Gaming Laptop Help

Hey, I'm looking to replace my PC with a Gaming Laptop.

Can anyone help me find an awesome gaming laptop that will be able to run games like Wildstar perfectly?

I also woud like to be able to stream with it.

Budget is about 1000 dollars. Thanks in advance

Is there a reason it HAS to be a laptop ? I only ask because at that budget, you wont get any "gaming" laptop worth much to run high level games "perfectly"

You can get decent gaming laptops for that price, but dont expect them running with all settings on in the big games. If you still want a laptop only, I would suggest you look at Asus models - although at that price, you will be looking at the lower end still

If you absolutely need a laptop for some work purpose, grab a $300 netbook, and shoot for a $700 desktop, you'll pull out higher specs, when you can sit down, and enjoy a game.

Yeah it has to be a laptop, as I'm looking to clear up space in my room and I like to be able to bring it to friends easily too. Is there no good options for about 1 grand?

Honestly, no. You can GET one, but the graphics card in it will be crap. Check this for example: http://www.proshop.dk/Baerbar/ASUS-K...d-2405210.html

That is about $1000. Now check out the graphics card compared to desktop ones: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gp...eForce+GT+740M

Yours (in the laptop) is the bottom one.

You will get nowhere near desktop graphics on a laptop for that price, sorry mate

You can probably find something better for the price, but it will be only marginally better I think

Is in that ballpark, and has two 750M's.
However, it still won't even scratch a desktop of comparable budget. We're talking, maybe 20-40% on benchmarks, excluding SLI CPU limitations, to my best estimate (un-supported figures).

Ty for the links. What if I were to up my limit to 1500, would I be able to get a really solid one then, or do I need to up it to 2000?

To be honest you are better waiting for the Haswell cpu laptops to die in price before taking the leap they are really good on battery life it's just not worth it or you will be outdated instantly upon purchase just wait till after christmas then buy a 4th gen intell laptop with a 760m or above!

What about this? This is 1250 dollars, I guess I could afford that. That seems very good for the price?

For $1000 you can get a 9/10 Gaming PC or a 5~6/10 "Gaming" laptop.

Thats the graphics card in that one. Its double as good as the one I linked, but again, its not even close to any cheap desktop version.

To get a mid-range gaming laptop with maybe 60% as good graphics as the same priced cards for desktops, you would be looking at at least $2000 - and even then it wouldnt be close to desktops

My pc with what is just in the box cost $3600+ Aud there is no point gaming on a laptop $ to performance it's simply not worth it.

At the $2500 mark it is but under that why bother!

That is ok but make shure you can swap the gpu for a better one!

Why are laptops so much more expensive for what you get compared to PC ?

What he said. And, unless you aren't paying for it, you are going to regret buying an expensive laptop later. You can't (readily) fix it yourself, no upgrades, etc.

Gaming on laptops just won't ever be as good as on a desktop now or in the near future.

Because they know people will buy them "because they are cool".

Lets make things clear. You CAN game on those $1000 laptops, but there is no way you will be running Battlefield 4 and the new big titles in any way thats worth it. You could run things like WoW and older titles at decent levels with most things turned of, and it would be playable, but maybe not really enjoyable.

What games do you want to run other than Wildstar (which isnt out so no one knows the minimum requirements) ?

Because they are much much smaller in form factor ofc

Because they have to make it as portable as possible without cooking the internals the laptop you linked is pretty good you could game med-high at 30fps game dependant on that.

Smaller form factor, specialised parts that have to be more focused on power/performance (real power). You're also buying all the parts that make up a desktop, which would include a $100-200 for a screen, $100-150 for the keyboard/mouse/speakers and quite an advanced 'case', compared to what a desktop case is.

Nice, do you think I should go with this one? Is this the best I can get for 1250 ? I don't really have money to throw 2k at a laptop, I'll do 1000-1500 though.
