For the first time in the past 7 years I find myself playing incredibly mediocre and low end. I took a break for probably the past 8 months and am just returning. Where I was once used to ranking and reaching sim dps without any issues I find myself falling short. So it's time to start from the ground up.
I just picked up destro again. As always stat weights and all that jazz are incredibly stagnant and to be expecting.
My questions to the community would be, helpful addons? Aff Dots, Weak Aura, Tidy Plates from what I have gathered.
General tips for Destro? Helpful little things?
I played afflic early in the xpac and did normal content in the first tier and honestly I had no issues. Part of it is certainly me getting my bearings and my groove back but I'm really disappointed in myself haha.
Affdots is useful for affliction and somewhat for destro too.
1) Learn to love shadowburn, it's incredibly fun and effective if used properly.
2) Havoc whenever possible, especially with shadowburn.
3) Try to keep rain of fire up.
4) Save your doomguard CD for the quarter of the boss fight since he does more damage to mobs under 20% health.
5) Figure out the best way to use your teleport and portal spells in fights.
I gotcha. Alright. I'm hoping most of my issues are just being away for so long and getting back all my reflex. HOWEVER I was just hoping for tips on the little things. The big things are all spelled out here things like stat weights are totally dependent on my sim plots.
It's just REALLY annoying seeing sims and being 10k under a sim even when I've taken pots, flasks and food buffs out of the picture on the actions. Just something I've never really had to deal with as a player haha.
I wouldn't worry too much about all rain of fire talk. Like you first said get something to track your trinket procs like weak auras, learn a good set up for affdots that you can comfortable with, and get used to managing your embers. But other than that, just practice until you don't have to think about the rotation and then start looking for little ways to improve like better use of embers or havocs.
Wait, are you sure about that? I thought one of the annoyances about the DG was that it had barely any scaling at all. You got 28 shadowbolts from it, thats it and they were fairly static in damage.
See I was going to ask about that. Last I checked no one really knew for sure how much scaling the doom guard got with bloodlust etc. It was all assumption and hoping for the best and this was the beginning of the xpac.
