So your stance is that the government should ignore the cost of repairing the roads they provide, ignore how much wear and tear those roads accumulate due to public usage, and ignore trying to fix said roads?

    Yes?

You mean, the roads they provide WITH OUR MONEY.

How about we quit funding other governments and use that money to distribute to the states to take care of our own problems instead of putting our noses in everyone's ass around the world.

More gallons of gas means more driving means more road repairs needed. The increased revenue from amount of gas sold is canceled out by the increased miles driven.

Since gas tax is a set amount and not a percent it must go up every few years to keep up with inflation, since it costs more to repair due to inflation.

It's really REALLY simple, and you're not getting it.

And we use them. What's your point?

And of course gas usage is going up. That also means that wear on the roads is going to happen faster, as they are being utilized more.

No, Hooked's idea is to give the roads away to private companies who will repair them for less than the federal government through the power of the Glorious Free Marekt.

The average driver would LOVE it.

The average trucker would kill anyone who tried to implement it.

There is plenty of money from taxes to pay for roads. They choose to waste the money, and when thats gone they want more. Do you think an increase will really keep the roads perfect?. No, it will be the same as it always is, every 20 years they repave. As a matter of fact they dont even repave with any quality anymore, they just throw down gravel and shoot it with asphalt liquid now.

I'm under the impression that Truckers already pay huge money on their mileage based on their weight. Isn't that what all those Weigh Stations are for?
