Not one of Mr Sammy's better faces, but this orc female has that strength I feel they should embody alright-ee. I'd love to see this with a more appealing face, but not like all girly pretty, just not sooooo,... Shemale.

Also, FUCK YES EQ NEXT looks amazing. That and Wildstar have me seething and chomping at the bit. They both also have really fun looking movement mechanics. Which will make them the first MMO since WOW to really achieve that IMO.

Tera came soooo close, but they should not have used that Anime theme, people outside of anime fans have jaded anime fatigue, their world design was also a bunch of canyons with scenery along the edges, it felt like a linear action game that was huge.

The combat, fuck. So much fun. I'd kill to see the combat mechanics of Tera and Darksiders married to the lore and visual style of WOW, I'd die possibly and turn into a catfish. A fucking were-catfish. Darksiders already plays like Arthas as War, and DS2 played like Illidan while you're Death. And mmmm Joe Madureira's art translated into those chunky beefy lovely character models,... The jumping and double jumping and locomotion in action games and WOW is addictive as hell, and EQ next's paramor style movement and Wildstars multi jumping looks addictive as running around in a recent Mario or Zelda game. It just feels right, it's smooth, you feel fun just moving.

WOW was the first and it still almost the only MMO to get that right. I would kill, absolutely murder, to talk to the devs responsible for WOW's movement. It seems so perfect I have to guess it's either a massively talented eye someone has or there was a lot of psychological study and effort put into analyzing the addictive properties and feeling of locomotion in a game, and they nailed it. Hopping around in Super Mario Galaxy and running around in WOW or jumping in the air and zooming forward in Darksiders or Fable, all of this,... I want it in WOW. I want a sprint button put into WOW like Wildstar has, where you can hold down sprint and jog for a limited time. I want multi jumping in WOW, to the detriment of bunny hop haters everywhere. I think a warrior charge like ability without a target targeted or pandaren bouncy roll move should be int he game for all races to get the hell out of AOE in raids and dungeons, not standing in shit and fire on the ground is fun, but instead of mouse turning and just *yawn* running the way you came from, you could dash out of there. And that feels fun. That feels like you're an adventurer/hero, I think if not all of those things were for all classes, it would be a great way to make Demon Hunters stand out from the classes currently making them redundant.

WTF did you just say Yig? You're talking about fucking double jumping in my WOW? Then an active dodge/dash buttin in my WOW? And now you're takling about Demon Hunters, Yig? Why not ask for in game nudity and housing and the Emerald Dream while you're on a roll, eh Yig?

Yes, I think locomotion is the key to giving demon hunters a niche as acrobatic lithe warriors of ninja like agility. I imagine hopping around like Ninja Gaiden and dashing around like Fable's dash spell and holy shit I am going off on so many tangents and asking to be flamed and ridiculed.

    MMMMM-mmmm. MMM.

So yeah, Everquest Next looks sick as a laboratory donkey with SARS.

On WOW females, here's some rarely seen Vanilla concept art, another good idea of where we may be going though she seems to have lost the junk in her trunk in these depictions, give her a bit of Botticelli volume and voilà.

I really like all models I have seen so far. The models look really true to Warcraft. They look cartoony yet not that cartoony. The models turning into Wildstar-ish,Pixar-ish is the last thing I want.

God I love the ethnic dwarven populations from Northrend. Would love to see them playable with new models, I'll even break my own rules and play with their old WOTLK models, but to see them imagined with Pandaren quality, aw-ooooo-ga.

I am absolutely loving the enthusiasm in this thread
Seeing all the old concept art and ideas people are tossing around on the back of what we've seen so far is really, really keeping me hyped for the big reveal!
Based on what we've seen so far, I'm quietly confident that the yet-to-be-seen models are going to blow us away. I've always liked WoW's cartoony art style, so seeing that interpreted in far more detailed and beautifully animated models... My god, I think I'm actually going to squee!

You possibly don't seem to recognize the aspects of WOW that already are Wildstarish and Pixarish. They both have their own distinctions the others lack, but they also all share something you're overlooking because of the aspects you don't like. Next to having aspects that are Pixarish, WOW models also have that special something that makes them Warcraft. More saturated color and darker gradients, more testosterone, more density, more dirt, more beef. But when someone says a generic or realistic human needs more Pixarish cartooniness, they're not saying to ditch WOW for Wildstar.

You can be cartoony without going pixar or wildstar style. WoW,Pixar and Wildstar are all cartoony but different style. The aspects that you said they all share are that they are all cartoony...

    Kill it with fire.

Oh really? Then how come Garrosh can stand straight despite his 'massive, exaggerated shoulders'? No, it's a deliberate slouching posture, not just thanks to their shoulders. For a big part, their muscle creates a slight bit of hunch because the head sticks out of it, but

Garrosh looks just fine here. Sure doesn't seem to have the horrible hunch the normal male orcs do. So I call bullshit on that whole "well they are so muscular, that's why they have the hunch".

And I'll say yes. Why would I not want females that are consistent with the male model or males that are consistent with the female model. My opinion is, and will stay that either male orcs and trolls should be able to stand straight (same for worgen, to be honest) or that the female orcs and trolls (same for worgen) should be able to hunch. Or preferably both as option.

That troll looks less irksome than the current one. I don't mind a race being beautiful or possibly beautiful, but I prefer some consistency, and when the males of a certain races magically stopped knowing how to walk without hanging their shoulders until they hunched like cavemen and the females are made out to be beautiful, and capable of walking just fine, you have a consistency fail.

So yes, I would prefer a female troll with that posture if they do not plan to give male trolls the option to walk with a straight back, despite the fact that I like the current female. Because I like consistency much more. And it's not like this is a small thing. It's one huge red flag.

It's basically a kick ass Vryjul, god I love Vrykul. I used to sit for hours in WOTLK in physical discomfort yearning for the day our player models would look that cool, I never expected it to happen. The Goblins and Worgen males exceeded my expectations, and then Pandaren just tore my brain out of my skull and threw it in a Brewmasters keg.

    Vry-kuuuuuuuuuuuuul!

I want them to be playable so badly. Make them as tall as Tauren, a man can dream. A man can dream. Ah,... a man can dream.

I would sit and just yearn and pine for a human model that looked this clarified and had so much personality in his face. Now they will exceed them.

And the female Eonar titans using the Vrykul as a base,... I would kill kill kill murder death kill for those to be playable.

Still hard to believe it's finally here, only a matter of time now I'll soon be through.

This conversation can serve no purpose any longer.

All you see about these things is what you don't like about them, blinding you to more than just "cartoony". There are very distinct
and wildly varying spectrums of cartoony.

Wildstar has an Iron Giant Vibe to it. WOW has a Secret of Nimh vibe to it, but it also has an Ice Age vibe to it. There are countless ingredients in this stew pot. But if you don't see more than "cartoony" linking those styles, I don't see a purpose in trying to persuade you.
    Your opinion is noted.
The aesthetics are pointless to discuss in the context of debate.

Oh, yes. Vrykul are so awesome, and I hope there will be a way to play them some day. It also brought me to Vargul, which brings me to..

It would be awesome to have some optional Death Knight skins. Like the Goblin skins that were never made available:

(I am sad that they weren't made available, tbh. Look a lot better than current DK skins)

So I hope we can get something like that as an OPTION for new Death Knight models. At the same time, I hope we get a glyph, or a glyph-like system (made for aesthetic stuff only) where we can give our characters (death knights, shadow priests, warlocks etc.)

These markings, but an updated version of those.

Than those people must love current female models, which I mean "sticks".

    This one more or less hows how orc female should look like... except with bit more reduced arm muscles and, well, not so manly face. ^^;;

  16. #796
You know, Garrosh seems larger than your average orc. Not sure if Im seeing things or not. Might be the armor.

Comparatively the new orcs seem less hunched over.

I don't understand who the hell looks at this monstrous creature and thinks the female would look anything less like a monster.

The alpha troll in my opinion was great, she looks like a freaky creepy swamp hag you'd wake up bound and ritually strung up by upside down while you can only watch her throwing body parts in a big kettle and drinking hallucinogenic brews with her eyes rolled back in her head.

Some people like to pretend to be monsters, where the fuck is there this intrinsic rule people want to be visually appealing in an attractive sense every where? Sometimes you want to dress up as Freddy Krueger for Halloween. Trolls are the race you should be playing if you want to play a monster thing. I don't understand who looked at the trolls we already had and thought it was even possible their females looked like human women with different skin colors and an underbite.

I love the idea of something like this using something like the Maya as a reference. Naughty parts blurred for the sensitive.

Oh god yes, I never saw that goblin. And I've been asking for Cult of the Damned eye mask markings for DKs since WOTLK launched, they have it in the concept art.

Garrosh is a boss, probably why he looks bigger?
They artificially make them larger to see in a raid surrounded by players and spell FX.

But if you don't know, Robinson has said an optional orc with less of a hunch is on their current development wishlist to play with.
Finally, it might happen. This was an experiment of mine using his 5.4 cutscene to explore the option earlier in this thread.

If they'll make Trolls anything like their art-work which depicts them, I'll roll a Troll in a heartbeat... for now, they're an eye-sore ingame... unless you're looking at the cool Zandalari.

I get the "Olive/Bluto/Popeye" dimorphism, but when it sort of defies how the race is presented in the lore, I find it a bit.. annoying? Like Night Elves are amazon, troll women are blood thirsty cannibals(for the most part), worgen are cursed wolf-beasts who has their sanity intact, so on, so forth.

I'm not saying slider is a good option. I like it the way it is, I already spend a lot of time trying to decide how my draenei girl should look - do I want ram, or swept back horns? -and I think with a slider I wouldn't even be able to play the game because I'd be too busy making a damn character - see Guild Wars 2.

However, I would appreciate it if the ladies got a bit more muscle, or have scarred skintones we can select, and tattooed, and some serious/ugly/wartorn looking face, as this is Warcraft and not everyone wants to play a pretty thing all the time with flawless hair and skin and a perfect hourglass figure(not saying all of them has hourglass figure.. but they sort of do).

I'd rant about it more, but I'm too lazy and I don't want to sidetrack the purpose of the thread. I'm excited about the updates and I wish they would just do so because I'm not a patient person which is sad.
