    Just bought a ssd card

Realized I need to get a power supply cable for it, the only problem is, my power supply doesnt have a sata cord for it, but I do have a 6 pin Motherboard Power Connector not being used, is there a converter to go from a 6 pin to sata power supply.?

Samsung 840 PRO Series 128GB SSD

I don't know of any 6-pin to SATA connectors but would it be possible to split the power cable for your current hard drive using something like this newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200161 to also get power for your SSD?

Sorry it's not a link, don't have enough posts to post links yet.

There is no 6pin (PCI-E) to SATA connector. Furthermore that Y-splitter is... just that. A Y-Splitter. If you have no SATA, then splitting sata to 2 more sata is kind of useless.

You need what Vegas suggested, a 4pin molex to SATA adapter.

    Thread moved to sub-forum.

    Get a molex adapter.

Well I was going to take my sata off my HDD and split it so it ran my HDD and SDD... Or would that be 2 dangerous

So are you saying your PSU doesn't have ANY, or it doesn't have ENOUGH (i.e. only 1). I was under the impression from the original post you have no SATA power cables.

If that's the case then a Y-Splitter ought to work, then, if you already have at least one. What power supply do you have?

A PoS xtremegear that came from cyberpower 800w, Honestly thinking of replacing it. But I also am planning on building my own this summer.

Based on my looking around the internet, you should replace that ASAP. Check this out.

If you do end up building your own, you could always recycle the newer PSU.

Cheap decent replacement assuming you're not running some SLI/CF setup:

    EVGA 500W $30 after rebate

    Read me...

As I was saying cheap and decent option if you're just looking for quick/cheap replacement for a "fireworks PSU", if you can spend more on better and more reliable quality by all means go for it. 3 year EVGA warranty to go with it.

580 pulls 250 max, so your system total will never break 380w pretty much.

If you want something better quality, maybe modular and a little more power (not that you need it with your current setup) you could get this:

    Antec High Current Gamer 620W
