    Freezing Issues - Ram Related?

Hey there fellow pc peoples. I have a few questions. For the past few months, I have been experiencing random freezes when either surfing the net, gaming, or just talking to friends in skype. The freezes require a reboot, and then the computer is fine for another 2-3 hours before it happens again. I am curious if this is a ram related issue. The computer is two years old this past summer.

    Here are some specs:
    Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128494
    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231461

Is there anyway I can test if this is a ram related issue?

    Thanks Again guys!
Thank You Shyama for the sig again!!

Does the computer beep? Blue screen? Just freeze the screen as a still image? Response to any keyboard presses? Power off? A little more detail would be helpful.

It does not blue screen or beep, it just freezes with a still image. It will not respond to keyboard commands when this happens. The only way to stop the freeze is to restart the system. I honestly have no idea whats causing it. Whats interesting is that when skype of vent is open and it happens when someone is talking it, i hear their last letter repeated very quickly until i restart.

This just happened to me, except after shutting it down it never came back on. Turned out the motherboard was dying =(

Check the Windows Event Viewer to see if Windows logs anything. I would guess there is a driver conflict/corruption.

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs

Check under Application, Setup, and System to see if there are any red X icons after this happens. If you don't want to wait until it happens, in the right-side pane click Filter Current Log and check Critical, Warning, Verbose, and Error. Leave Information unchecked and click OK.

Red X icons are bad stuff happening and will point you in the direction of the underlying issue.

If it happens 2-3hours after each restart, the issue is less random than faulty RAM.
Do you know anything about computers? Can you open up the case? If you can, open it up and inspect your motherboard visually, you are looking for faulty transistors.
How a good condition transistor looks: http://www.seb.me.uk/static/dell-transistor-good.jpg
Newer transistors, and you can see one is burned: http://media.bestofmicro.com/5/6/225...ck_p55-pro.jpg
What you are looking for is for any brown stuff on top of them or any physical deformations (risen top, bloated, etc.)

    PM me weird stuff :3
