I bought one but haven't touched it in over a year. There are no games I want to play on it. The same thing happened to me with the PSP too, I always go back to my DS.

got mine at launch, dropped a few times ((clumsy, i know) all i have to show is a few scuff amrks on the edges. they are built solid as a rock and not easily broken. also i have had no problem with the the screen using the remote play feature with my ps4, all it does is stream over wifi. the stress is no different than watching youtube or playing a vita game.

My 3DS has been dropped several times during the time I've had it (summer 2011) and nothing has broken on it. The d-pad is a bit flimsy though, but that problem has been fixed with the 3DS XL.

The Vita is a really nice piece of hardware, but as others have said it's library is lacking. Even in Japan support for it is supposedly weak, although improving. It does have access to many PSP and PSX titles via digital download though if that's of interest. Integration with the PS4 also looks interesting, although I don't have the latter to test it out.

Hardware wise, in comparison to the 3DS, the screen is much much better on the Vita, and I prefer the layout of the controls and the way it sits in your hand although your mileage may vary there. I always felt the clamshell design of the DS/3DS felt flimsy, but the Vita's open front has it's own risks, so be sure to buy a case for it. I also feel that the 3DS's touchscreen is a fair bit more responsive, although not being on the main screen leaves it with limitations in use.

If the Vita had Nintendo games support, then I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

I love Nintendo's games, but their hardware has always been pretty "meh" after the gamecube.

I don't have a Vita atm, but personally there are more games that currently interest me on it than on the 3DS.
Issue is the price of the memory really. That thing is stupid absurd.

    New Ys game.
    Miku Project Diva
    Dragon Crown
    Madoka
Neptunia though this may end up just being sold out by the time I even get one.
    Atelier series
    Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 maybe.
whatever else I can't think of.

Technical specs it is better than the 3DS. I don't know how the interaction with PS4 is going to be like though.

I bought one and after only 2 games I realized there wasn't much else I felt like playing. I actually sold it to pay for part of my PS4, which I'm enjoying more than I ever did the Vita lol. I'm currently trying to Plat AC4 and Knack (with the help of PS4 Cheats and Hints) but yea, I can't recommend the Vita.

3DS is clearly the better choice.

Vita has one huge advantage over 3DS if you own PS3/4 and have PS+ though. Constant stream of free games, and you already own your Vita game library if you have had PS+ for a while. That's the reason I bought it.

I think with Vita supporting the remote play for the PS4, we should finally see a pickup in the game library for it over the next year.

Besides Vita games themselves, there is a pretty good selection of games on PSN that you can buy for Vita. Not only the ones directly listed for Vita, but if you also have a PS3, you can buy pretty much any PSP title on PSN and transfer it to Vita that way.

Beyond that, it also supports Skype, Netflix, etc. as well.

Is this a joke? Meh, heard the hardware is cool. But there aren't many games worth picking up. So, I guess it's up to you.

Stop reminding me about the Madoka games I'll never play.

Hardware wise, I've heard Vita is miles ahead. Buuuut, 3DS's library is vastly, vastly, vastly superior.

I still play my PSP, but I do not and never will own a Vita.

If you're looking for something that has a larger variety of games, and a better chance of having something you'd actually play, then just get a 3DS. The Vita is basically already on a downhill slope to being dead, fewer and fewer games are getting made for it.

I have dropped my 3DS XL on concrete from chest height and it still works just fine, all it did was knock a tiny chip of plastic off the red outer shell. Nintendo products are durable as hell, drop a Sony device once and it's royally fucked.

I have one, and really love it. By far the best PGD on the market. I also love how I can transfer games from my PS3 to the Vita, and continue playing. The virtual augmentation or w/e its called, is also freakin badass. I'd recommend it if you travel a lot.

The system hardware is fantastic. The library of games-Not so much. The Nintendo DS is probably the best choice.

Like everyone said. Vita's hardware is just as awesome than its library is empty.

A real shame SONY doesn't care about their handeled consoles (psp was pretty much the same). Clearly can't understand how they think sometimes, but i guess their overpaid marketing genius are smarter than I am.

It's an incredible piece of hardware with no games. It's stuck in that catch 22 of "No one will make games for it because nobody has one, but nobody has one because it has no games."

It's not that Sony doesn't care about their handhelds, it's just that they released a product with too high of a price point, poor battery life and very little in the ways of guarantees of high sales of games for 3rd party studios. The Vita is getting worse treatment from developers then the Wii U is, and in the length of time that the Wii U has been on the market compared to the Vita, it has sold considerably more. The Vita is by all intents and purposes, deemed a massive failure by developers and even Sony has literally abandoned making games for it. It's last killer app was supposed to be Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and that game turned out to be a colossal piece of shit because the team who made it were themselves designated to making shovelware for Activision. The Vita hardware is fine, I used to own one when the 3DS was lacking in the quality games department last year and I enjoyed it because it had some good games but once they were finished the release list dried up and it's future looked dim so I sold it. Then the 3DS started getting good games so I had no need for it.

The PSP was the most successful competitor to a Nintendo portable ever, with around 80 million units sold in contrast to 153 million that Nintendo sold with the original DS family (DS, Lite, DSi and DSi XL) and the DS was the most successful selling portable device in gaming history as well, the original Gameboy family sold around 118 million units and that was over the span of 12 years before the Gameboy Advance came out in 2001. One has to think that the PSP despite it's faults with having consistent game releases, is one of the more popular portable devices to ever hit the market and that is saying something as the Gameboy line was pretty damn popular. I think Sony had it in their heads that the Vita was going to have the same success as the PSP did and that is eventually what brought the demise of the console, developers don't see it as a serious system and with the 3DS being the fastest selling portable currently going, developers are going to be hard pressed to justify making games for it.

The PS Vita is the best console ever created, under 3 conditions:
    1. you know enough japanese to play a japanese game.
    2. you do not care to import japanese games to the country you are living in.
    3. you actually like Japanese games that will never come to america because of cultural differences.

If all 3 things are not true above then do not even waste your time. The Vita is an amazing handheld console but much like the PsP most of the Vita Library will never get ported outside of Japan, because of this most US Vita users are under the impression that the console's gaming library is very sparse, which is true in the US.

Also, Sony does not have Pokemon.

I gotta be honest, and this is coming from a Playstation guy. If you're going to use it a lot and you aren't using it in conjunction with a PS3/4 then go for a DS of some kind, don't go Vita.
