    Age reversal pill possibly incoming.

    http://www.theguardian.com/science/2...g-human-trials

Australian and US researchers hope an anti-ageing compound could be trialled on humans as early as next year, following a key breakthrough that saw the ageing process reversed in mice.

The study, involving Harvard University and the University of NSW, discovered a way of restoring the efficiency of cells, completely reversing the ageing process in muscles.

Two-year-old mice were given a compound over a week, moving back the key indicators of ageing to that of a six-month-old mouse. Researchers said this was the equivalent of making a 60-year-old person feel like a 20-year-old.

It’s hoped the research, published in Cell, will be expanded to humans as early as next year, with scientists set to look at how the theory of age reversal can be used to treat diseases such as cancer, dementia and diabetes.

    Now wouldn't that be interesting.

Only the rich will have access to this sort of thing. "Poor people keep telling me I can't take it with me when I go, well jokes on them I'm not going."

We'd have to implement some kind of population control or artificially inflate the cost of the pill.

I suggest sword fights to the death.

"feel like" is much different than de-aging, though. I'm afraid people's organs will putter out regardless over time.

Even if it works like advertised, it´s nothing but band-aid. Neural degeneration will limit your functionality so that you will be a vegetable by the time you hit 120. Theres also the functionality of other organs like the heart. There won´t be any wonder compound to aging. We need to rewrite hundreds of our genes for something more lasting. By the time we can do that, it would probably be more practical to make a synthetic body.

Heart can be replaced. Just ask Dick Cheney. Neural Degeneration will be curable in time too. Either through drugs, or implanted devices. Google Glass in 2025 will be inside your brain, helping you to remember, and watch porn.

I think it's obvious this stuff will be possible in time. No doubt. They probably said the same about Heart transplants and other medical advances back when our parents and such were teenagers and what not. Personally I can't wait for the discovery stuff itself.

    They're cloning/growing organs now so..

Cloning is not enough. You need to fix the genetic material if you want your new organs to last.

You hear about it all the time when older people say that they feel better than they did when they were in their "x" years. Usually it comes from people who really take care of themselves. This would just be the same thing, but without all the hard work. But "feeling" a certain age wouldn't do much of anything. You'd still have a body of someone old and you'd still have to be very careful in what you do.

Yes. But what it can ensure is that as we age we are less prone to physical ailments and injuries because our bodies continue to remain fairly young. We'll all die at a ripe old age but we won't be dying with osteoporosis.

I would be more excited if they made head way on reversing heart disease( outside of a vegan diet ) and cancer other wise people will still keep dying no matter how long they have the potential to live

Im not saying it´s a bad thing, but it´s not a cure. I don´t know the specific mechanics of what this drug does to muscle cells(Or if it works only on bone muscle), but muscle atrophy is not the only thing that cause osteoporosis during old age.

I think I'd swap all of the feeling younger for just looking younger tbh.
